Cyril Manton Harris (June 20, 1917 - January 4, 2011) is Professor Emeritus of Architecture and Professor Charles Batchelor Emeritus of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University. She received a B.S. in mathematics and M.S. in physics from UCLA, and a Ph.D. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he specializes in acoustics.

He writes with Vern Oliver Knudsen's Acoustical Designs in Architecture book, and edits some others, including the Noise Control Handbook , Shock and Vibration Handbook , Historical Architecture Dictionary Illustrated , Dictionary of Architecture and Construction and American Architecture: Illustrated Encyclopedia . These books are recognized as authoritative references in their field.

As a consultant, Harris participates in the design and construction of over 100 spaces, including John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, Minnesota Orchestra Hall, Lincoln Metropolitan Opera Center, Abravanel Hall, Benaroya Hall and Conrad Prebys Concert Hall at the University of California, San Diego.

Harris is a Fellow at the Acoustical Society of America. He served on the Executive Board (1954-1957), was vice president (1960-1961) and president (1964-1965) of the community, and was an associate editor of the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America (1959-1971). He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the American Philosophical Society, and several other professional societies and advisory councils. Harris served as president (1993) and chairman of the Board (1994) of the New York Academy of Sciences. His achievements in auditory acoustics are recognized by Wallace Clement Sabine Medal of Acoustical Society of America, Franklin Medal (1977), AES Gold Medal (1984), Mayor's Award for Excellence in Science and Technology (1985) and ASA. Gold Medal (1987). He holds honorary doctorates from the Institute of Technology of New Jersey and from Northwestern University.
