Don Lynch is a historian with the Titanic History Society. He co-authored the book Titanic: An Illustrated History in 1992 with Ken Marschall and later co-authored Ghosts of the Abyss . Lynch has a collection of Titanic memorabilia and even wider knowledge of the subject, after researching RMS Titanic along with Marschall since the early 1970s. His research included interviews with victims of maritime disasters and diving into the Titanic shipwreck at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. He has worked with several other authors and documentary filmmakers as consultants and archival material suppliers. Lynch has appeared in several television documentaries about the sinking of the Titanic .
Lynch helped James Cameron during the 1997 Titanic film production and also appeared, uncredited, in the movie as a passenger of Frederic Spedden. In the scene he sees his son spinning on the deck of the ship.
At one time Lynch also worked as a Controller for a major defense company division.
