Islamnagar is a panchayat village in the Bhopal district of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is located in Huzur tehley and the Phanda block.
Formerly fortified city, Islamnagar is the capital of Bhopal prince country for a short period. The ruins of the palace built by Bhopal's founder, Dost Mohammad Khan, are still on the site.

Histori
Originally known as Jagadishpur , this place was founded by the local Rajput chief. At the beginning of the 18th century, the place was taken and renamed Islamnagar ("Islamic city") by Dost Mohammad Khan, founder of the Bhopal prince country. Islamnagar is the original capital of Dost Mohammad Khan state.
In 1723, Dost Mohammad Khan had to hand over Islamnagar fortress to Nizam-ul-Mulk after a brief siege. Khan was dropped to the kiledar position (fortress commander) under Nizam after the peace deal. The Scindia took control of Islamnagar fortress from 1806 until 1817, when returned to Bhopal after an agreement.
Some members of the Bhopal royal family, including Shah Jahan Begum, were born in Islamnagar.

- Islamnagar Fortress
The ruins of Islamnagar fortress can be found walking through the farmland of Islamnagar.
- Expensive Chaman
Chaman Mahal ("Garden Palace") is a red sandstone structure built by Dost Mohammad Khan. Surrounded by gardens and fountains, and decorated with flower motifs. Architecture is a synthesis of Malwa-Mughal architecture, with Bengali-influenced rooftops. The ruined palace has a Mughal water park and a hamam (Turkish bath).
- Rani Mahal
Rani Mahal ("Queen Palace") is a two-story zenana complex (female residence). It has colonnaded Diwan-e-Aam .
Demographics
According to India's 2011 census, Islamnagar has 724 households. The effective literacy rate (ie the literacy rate of the population excluding children aged 6 and under) is 77.52%.
