It tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a teenage ninja who seeks recognition from his friends and village and also dreams of becoming Hokage, the leader of his village. The story is in two parts, the first set in Naruto's pre-teen years, and the second in his teenage years. The series is based on two one-shot manga by Kishimoto: Karakuri (1995), which makes Kishimoto mention honorable in Shueisha's monthly Hop Step Award the following year, and Naruto (1997).
Naruto serialized in Shueisha magazine, Weekly Sh? nen Jump from 1999 to 2014, and released in tanks? bon (book) in 72 volumes. The manga is adapted into an anime television series produced by Studio Pierrot and Aniplex, which broadcast 220 episodes in Japan from 2002 to 2007; the English adaptation of the series aired on Cartoon Network from 2005 to 2009. Viz Media licensed manga and anime for North American production and continued Naruto in Weekly Shonen Jump digital magazine . The anime series began airing in the United States and Canada in 2005, and in the United Kingdom and Australia in 2006 and 2007, respectively. The movies and most OVAs of the series were also released by Viz, with the first movie to be screened in theaters. It has become one of Viz Media's best-selling manga series; Their English translations of the volume have appeared on the bestseller lists of USA Today and The New York Times several times, and the seventh volume won the Quill Prize in 2006. Critics note that the manga, which has a coming-age theme, makes use of cultural references from Japanese mythology and Confucianism.

Plot
Bagian I
The powerful fox known as the Nine-Tails invades Konoha, a leaf village hidden in the Land of Fire, one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries in the Ninja World. In response, the leader of Konoha, the Fourth Hokage, sealed the fox inside the body of his newborn son, Naruto Uzumaki, making Naruto host the beast; this cost Naruto's father his life, and the Third Hokage returned from retirement to become the leader of Konoha again. Naruto is often mocked by Konoha villagers for being the host of the Nine-Tails. Because the decisions made by the Third Hokage forbid anyone to mention this event, Naruto knew nothing about the Nine-Tails until 12 years later, when Mizuki, a rebel ninja, revealed the truth to Naruto. Naruto then defeats Mizuki in battle, gaining the respect of his teacher Iruka Umino.
Shortly afterwards, Naruto becomes a ninja and joins Sasuke Uchiha, against whom he often competes, and Sakura Haruno, whom he has a crush on, to form Team 7, under an experienced sensei, Kakashi's elite ninja Hatake. Like all ninja teams from every village, Team 7 completes the mission requested by the villagers, from doing tasks and becoming a guard for murder.
After several missions, including the main one in Land of Waves, Kakashi allowed Team 7 to take the ninja exam, allowing them to advance to higher rank and take on a more difficult mission, known as Chūnin Exam. During the test, Orochimaru, a wanted criminal, attacks Konoha and kills the Third Hokage for revenge. Jiraiya, one of the three legendary ninjas, rejected the Fifth Hokage title and searched with Naruto for Tsunade whom he chose to become the Fifth Hokage.
During the search, it was revealed that Orochimaru wanted to train Sasuke because of his strong genetic heritage, the Sharingan. After Sasuke attempts and fails to kill his sister Itachi when he appears in Konoha to kidnap Naruto, he joins Orochimaru, hoping to get from him the force necessary to kill Itachi. The story takes a turn when Sasuke leaves the village of Konoha and when Tsunade finds out, he sends a group of ninja, including Naruto, to retrieve Sasuke, but Naruto can not persuade or force him to return. Naruto and Sakura do not give up on Sasuke: Naruto leaves Konoha to receive training from Jiraiya to prepare him for the next time he meets with Sasuke, while Sakura becomes Tsunade's apprentice.
Part II
Two and a half years later, Naruto returned from his training with Jiraiya. The Akatsuki begin to kidnap masters of the powerful Tailed Beast. Team 7 (and other ninjas) fight against them and look for their teammate Sasuke. The Akatsuki managed to capture and extract seven of the Bijuu, killing all hosts except Gaara (master of One-Tail) raised by Elder of the Sand village (where he is the new Kage) at the expense of his life. Meanwhile, Sasuke betrays Orochimaru and faces Itachi for revenge. After Itachi died in battle, Sasuke learned from Akatsuki's founder, Tobi that Itachi received orders from Konoha's superiors to destroy his clan to prevent a coup revolt. He accepts it on condition that he will be allowed to leave Sasuke alive. Saddened by this revelation, Sasuke joins Akatsuki to kill Konoha's top and destroy Konoha in retaliation. As the Konoha ninja defeats several Akatsuki members, the Akatsuki puppet leader, Nagato, kills Jiraiya and destroys Konoha, but Naruto defeats and redeems it, gaining the respect and admiration of the village.
With Nagato's death finally, Tobi, disguised as Madara Uchiha (one of the founders founders of Konoha), announces that he wants to get all the Nine Tailed Beasts to do an illusion strong enough to control all mankind, to create world peace. The leaders of the five ninja villages refused to help him and instead joined forces to confront Tobi and his allies. The decision resulted in a fourth major ninja war between the combined armies of the Five Great Countries (known as Shinobi Allied Forces) and Akatsuki troops from ninja-like zombies. The Five Kage tries to keep Naruto, unaware of war, in a secret island tortoise near Kumogakure (Hidden Cloud Village), but Naruto finds and escapes from the island with Killer Bee, the host of the Eight-Tails. At that time, Naruto along with the help of Killer Bee gained control of the Tailed-beast and they both headed for the battlefield.
During the conflict, it was revealed that Tobi is Obito Uchiha, Kakashi's former team mate who is considered dead. Madara actually saved Obito's life, and since then they have collaborated. When Sasuke studied Konoha's history, including the circumstances that led to his clan's downfall, he decided to protect the village and rejoin Naruto and Sakura to thwart Madara's plan and Obito. However, Madara's body is finally possessed by Kaguya Otsutsuki, an ancient princess who intends to conquer all mankind. Obito who reformed sacrificed himself to help Team 7 stop him. After Kaguya is sealed, Madara also dies. Sasuke takes advantage of the situation and takes over all of the Beasted Beasts, as he reveals his goal to end the current village system. Naruto confronts Sasuke to prevent him from his plans, and after they almost kill each other in the final battle, Sasuke admits defeat and reform. After the war, Kakashi became the Sixth Hokage and forgave Sasuke for his crimes. Years later, Kakashi retreated while Naruto married Hinata Hyuga and became the Seventh Hokage, raising the next generation.

Development
In 1995, Shueisha released Karakuri , a one-shot manga by Masashi Kishimoto who was honored in the Hop Step Award in 1996. Kishimoto is not satisfied with the next concept for action continued, and decided to work on another project. The new project will initially feature Naruto as a chef, but this version never works. Kishimoto originally wanted to make Naruto a child who could turn into a fox, so he created a one-shot from Naruto for the 1997 summer edition of Akamaru Jump based on the idea. Regardless of the positive feedback received in the reader's polls, Kishimoto is unhappy with his art and his story, so he writes it as a story about ninja.
The first eight chapters of Naruto have been planned before appearing in Weekly Sh? Nen Jump , and these chapters initially devoted many complex art panels to depict the Konoha village. By the time Naruto had made his debut, the art background was rare, not the character's emphasis. Although Kishimoto has worries that the chakra (the source of energy used by the ninja in Naruto ) makes the series too Japanese, he still believes it is a pleasant reading. Kishimoto is a devotee of Godzilla, and the tailed beast mythology was introduced because Kishimoto wanted a reason to draw a monster. He has said that the central theme in Part I of Naruto is how people accept each other, citing Naruto's development throughout the series as an example.
For Part II of the manga, Kishimoto tries to keep the panel layout and plot easy for the reader to follow, and to avoid the "mousing [ing] typical manga style". He assumes that his image style has changed from "classic manga look to something a bit more realistic." Wanting to end an arc involving Sasuke Uchiha looking for his brother, Itachi, in one volume, Kishimoto decided that volume 43 should include more chapters than regular volume. As a result, Kishimoto apologizes to readers for this because volume 43 is more expensive than regular volume.
Character
When he creates Naruto, Kishimoto looks at the manga sh? Nen as an influence for his work and try to make his character unique, while basing his story on Japanese culture. The separation of characters into different teams is meant to give each group a certain flavor. Kishimoto wants each member to have a high level of skill in one skill and not being gifted in another. She finds it difficult to write about romance, but rather emphasizes it in Part II of the manga, beginning with volume 28. She introduces criminals into the story to make them act as a counter to the moral values ââof her character and clearly illustrate their differences. As a result of how the younger character is significantly weaker than the villain, Kishimoto makes the timeskip to make them grow older and become stronger during this time.
Settings
Kishimoto took advantage of the Chinese zodiac tradition, which had long existed in Japan; the signature of the zodiac comes from this. When Kishimoto created the main setting of the Naruto manga, he concentrated initially on the design for the Konoha village. The idea of ââarrangement came to him "quite spontaneously without much thought," but admitted that the scene was the basis of his home in the prefecture of Okayama prefecture. Since the storyline does not specify when it is set, it is able to incorporate modern elements in series like stores. He considered including cars, airplanes and simple computers, but excludes projectile weapons and vehicles from the plot.
Conclusion
When serialization begins, Kishimoto decides the ending will feature a fight between two characters: Naruto and Sasuke, who will end up with Naruto forgiving Sasuke because he has forgiven Nagato. Kishimoto chose Hinata Hyuga as Naruto's romantic partner from the early stages of the manga, as Hinata always respected and admired Naruto even before the series began, and Kishimoto felt this meant they could both build relationships. This decision upsets his wife because he wants Naruto to marry Sakura Haruno, but Kishimoto sees Sakura as a friend of Naruto and his team mate, not a future wife. When Hinata first appeared, Kishimoto thought to form a love triangle among three characters, but because he decided that the battle was the main focus of the manga, there was little room for romantic plotlines.

In April 2007, volume 14 received the Viz the Manga Trade Paperback of the Year Gem Award from Diamond Comic Distributors. Manga was nominated for Favorite Manga Series at the 2009 Nickelodeon Magazine ' 2009 Comics Awards. Responding to Naruto success , Kishimoto said in Naruto Collector Winter 2007/2008 that he is "very happy that American audiences have accepted and understood ninja. It shows that American audiences have good taste [...] because that means they can accept something that was previously unknown to them. "
Naruto Shippuden has been ranked several times as one of the most watched series in Japan. The first DVD compilation released by Viz received a nomination from the American Anime Awards for the best package design.
Reception
Manga
Some reviewers commented on the balance between fight scenes and plot development; A. E. Sparrow from IGN and Casey Brienza from Anime News Network (ANN) feel that the result is a powerful storyline, but Carl Kimlinger, also writing for ANN, suggests that there are too many fights, which slows down the storyline. Kimlinger liked the character's design, and approved the scene of the fight itself which also drew positive comments from Rik Spanjers, who felt that the excitement of the scene depended on Kishimoto's skill in portraying the action. Javier Lugo, writing for Manga Life, agrees, describing the artwork as "dramatic, interesting, and precise for the story he tells."
The anime and manga magazines describe Naruto's character as "annoying" but assume that the "almost addictive" addiction series is due to the quality of characterization, and in Briana Lawrence's opinion the growth of character gives Part II a feeling of adults. In a review of volume 28 Brienza also praised the storyline and characterization of Part II, although he commented that not every volume reaches a high level of quality.
G? This, a professor in the manga department of Tokyo Polytechnic University, compares the development of the series to the Dragon Ball manga, saying that both manga present a good illustration of the three-dimensional body movement that captures the characters of 'martial arts very well. G? readers feel able to empathize with characters in Naruto through their inner monologues during battle.
The series also affects the film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World with director Edgar Wright says she's inspired by how every time there's a "killer motion" in the manga, there's an impact in the background following the use of the technique. There is an internet meme known as "Naruto run" based on the way the characters run forward with their hands behind their backs. In September 2017, students from the University of the Philippines Los BaÃÆ'à à ± os Perspective began covering the publications of students who were running like Naruto characters. When the manga ended, many authors of the magazine congratulated Kishimoto's work.
Anime
The Naruto anime is listed as the 38th best animated show on the Top 100 Animated Series IGN. In September 2005, Japan's TV network Asahi broadcast a popularity poll based on a national survey where Naruto was 17th. Mike Hale from The New York Times described this series much better than American animation intended for children, but the animation received some criticism from T.H.E.M. Anime critic reviews: Christina Carpenter feels Kishimoto's artistic style is badly translated into animation, and Derrick Tucker is also negative, although he feels that the best, the "[left] little portrayal is desirable". Like manga, some reviewers, like Martin Theron of ANN, along with Tucker, feel there are too many fights, though Justin Rich argues that the fight scenes are the most important and fun element of the show. Carpenter also commented positively on the characters, though he felt that most were quite stereotypical.
Naruto: Shippuden has been well reviewed by Activeanime David C. Jones who commented that the animation has improved. ANN notes that this series has a more serious tone and a better balance between comedy and drama than the first anime series; with more interesting deviations from the mainstream. Although the pacing for the first episode was criticized as slow, the delivery and development of interactions between characters received positive comments. Writing for Los Angeles Times , Charles Solomon ranked the third best anime Shippuden in his "Top 10".
Themes
Amy Plumb argues that the use of Kishimoto's reference to Japanese mythology at Naruto is intended to add a further layer into the story. Kishimoto expects his readers to decode the reference, allowing him to avoid direct explanation. One such example is Itachi, who has three ninja techniques named after the Shinto gods: Tsukiyomi, Amaterasu, and Susano-o. Plumb also cites the sasuke symbol of the Sasuke clan, a fan known as uchiwa . This fan is used in Japanese myths to dispel evil, by blowing it; Sasuke discovers at the end of the series that he has the ability to "fly" the Nine-Tailed Infinite influence on Naruto. The fox ( kitsune tsuki ) is a con artist in Japanese mythology, and in some stories they take over the human body; Plumb's comments on the obvious similarities with the Nine-Tails are sealed in Naruto, and Naruto's jokes play.
Christopher A. Born notes that the Naruto storyline contains traditional Confucian values, and shows that students analyzing manga such as Naruto and Bleach will learn Furthermore. about Confucianism compared to studying his abstract ideas. Norman Melchor Robles Jr. evaluate the depiction of positive and negative ideas in Naruto by counting words in scripts associated with violence or positive values; he found that a small portion of the words marked were violent, but commented that the depictions of violence appear to be organized to show how a positive strategy from the protagonist can overcome violence. Sheuo Hui Gan considers this series to have a set of "traditional ethical values." He also compared the alienation treatment in Naruto, which Naruto won by joining his society, with depictions of alienation in Akira and Neon Genesis Evangelion, where characters the main remains alienated.
Naruto has been described by some critics as a coming-of-age story. Psychologist Lawrence C. Rubin points out that the storyline will appeal to readers of all ages who have lost loved ones, or difficulty finding friends, or who are in other situations indicated in the series. In Yukari Fujimoto's view, when the characters mature, they show respect to adults who have raised and taught them, making it conservative storyline compared to other manga in the same time period as One Piece and Air Gear . Rik Spanjers sees the difference between Sasuke (a loner) and Naruto (an optimist) as tragic, arguing that the contrast between the two protagonist's approach to the world is fundamental to the plot: "Naruto's power grows as he gets more loved ones. Sasuke remains alone and increasingly absorbed by his quest for revenge ". Omote Tomoyuki points out that there are many comic moments in the story despite the difficulty Naruto finds himself in, but the comic elements diminish dramatically over time when Naruto grows up to be a teenager, especially once Part II begins. Sh? nen Jump start bringing comedies like Gintama and Reborn! from 2003 onwards, and according to Tomoyuki this is part of the reason for the change of emphasis: Naruto "should not give a laugh anymore".
Fujimoto argues that the story has an overly traditional gender role, and states "[...] its representation shows that men are men and women are women and that they differ naturally about talents and vocations". For example, the girls initially outperformed the children at the Ninja Academy, but "once the boy gets serious, the girls can not follow." Fujimoto points out that this does not make Sakura upset, which is now surpassed by Naruto. Character development based on the role of woman, when it does, again using stereotyped roles: Tsunade, for example, a middle-aged woman with big breasts, is a clear mother figure, and when she teaches Sakura to become a medical ninja, requiring her special skills only by women, this story reinforces the idea that women are only on the battlefield as healers. Tsunade himself, who is an authority figure in Naruto, is described as ridiculous in a way that men in the same position do not. Fujimoto suggested this woman's presentation could explain why female characters are often the most disliked characters among manga readers.
