Rachel Hunter (born September 8, 1969) is a New Zealand model, actress and host of Imagination Television's Rachel Hunter's Tour of Beauty. She has appeared on several magazine covers, including Vogue, Elle, Rolling Stone, Sports Illustrated, Playboy, Cosmopolitan, and Harper's Bazaar. She has been on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue twice; in 1994 and 2006.

Hunter was born in Glenfield, a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. His parents divorced when he was a child. As a child he wanted to be a ballet dancer, but was diagnosed with a rare blood disease that limited the ambition of dance.

Career modeling

Hunter began his career at age 17, modeling in Australia and New Zealand, appearing on "Vogue Australia", "Harper's Bazaar", "Australian Cosmopolitan" and for various campaigns throughout New Zealand and Australia. She became the face of Tip Top Ice-Cream in New Zealand and was a "Trumpet Girl". He quickly signed up for the Ford Model and immediately started a successful career, based on Cover Girl's cosmetic contract and being company spokesman for several years. Hunter rose to prominence globally after posing as a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model in 1989. He later appeared on the cover of the magazine, including Cosmopolitan and on the 1994 "Dream Team" cover of Sports Edition Illustrated yearly swimsuit with other Supermodel Elle MacPherson and Kathy Ireland, and again adorned the cover, this time solo, 12 years later in 2006. Hunter also appeared on the cover of Vogue Italy , Australia Vogue , American and international edition of Elle and Dutch Harper's Bazaar .

Hunter posed naked for the front cover pictorial Playboy published in April 2004.

Hunter signed with Ford Models in New York, Select Model Management in London, and Chadwick Models in Sydney, Australia.

Hunter first appeared on television in 1985 in an advertisement for the New Zealand Ice Cream brand promoting their "Trumpet" ice cream.

The guest hunter starred in a 1997 episode of The Drew Carey Show as himself. She has appeared in several independent films, including 1999's A Walk in the Park and 2000's Two Shades of Blue, an erotic thriller with Marlee Matlin. She starred as a lesbian chef who shares relationship suggestions in the award-winning indie film La Cucina . She has a brief appearance as a sexy football mom in Dennis Dugan The Benchwarmers (2006) and also plays mother wearing a bikini in the music video for Fountains of Wayne's 2003 song "Stacy's Mom."

Hunter appeared on the 2005 celebrity episode of Lingo , where she and her partner Trista Rehn split $ 30,000 for charity. Hunter is an ambassador for The Born Free Foundation, and founded the Rachel Hunter Lowland Gorilla Fund. Hunter also appeared as himself in Special Christmas 2004 from The Vicar of Dibley. Personal life

In the late 1980s, Hunter lived with rock musician Kip Winger. Winger stated after their relationship ended that he felt heartbroken when Hunter left him for Rod Stewart.

At age 21, Hunter meets rock star Rod Stewart, 24 years older than him, at a Los Angeles nightclub. They married three months later at the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church in Beverly Hills, California, on December 15, 1990. Together they had two children - Renee (b 1992) and Liam (born 1994). They split in January 1999 after nine years of marriage, and their divorce settled on November 2, 2006.

He has a one-year relationship with Canadian NHL hockey player Sean Avery, and in 2006 started a three-year relationship with Jarret Stoll, 13 years younger, as well as Canadian NHL player who plays for and won the Stanley Cup with Los Angeles Kings. His son Liam is a junior player who was guided by him while playing for LA Kings Juniors when they first met. Stoll proposed to Hunter in 2008 while he accompanied him on his way home to native New Zealand that year and they would get married on August 14, 2009, but the show was canceled by Stoll just weeks before their wedding date.
