The original Little Prince novel was first published in 1943, and is the most famous work of the French nobleman, writer, poet and pilot aviator of Count Antoine de Saint-Exupà © à © ry (1900-1944). This is a poetic story illustrated in watercolors in which a pilot stranded in the desert meets a young prince who falls to Earth from a small asteroid. The story is philosophical and includes social criticism, commenting on the peculiarities of the adult world.
Although it seems as though the children's book, The Little Prince made some deep and idealistic observations about life and human nature. For example, Saint-ExupÃÆ' à © ry tells of the fox who met the young prince during his journey on Earth. The core of the story is contained in the lines spoken by foxes to the small prince: On ne voit bien qu'avec le coeur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux. ("Someone is seeing clearly only with the heart." The other key thematic messages are articulated by The Fox, such as: "You become responsible, forever, for what you tame" and " This is the time you dedicate to your rose that makes your roses so important. "Fox's messages are arguably best-known for their relationship-related nature.
Antoine de Saint-Exupà © à © ry wrote and illustrated The Little Prince in New York City and Asharoken, NY in the mid to late 1942 when exiled in the United States after the Fall of France, with the manuscript completed in October. It will be published first in early 1943 in English and French, but only in the United States. Then it will appear in his native land of France after his death, after the liberation of Paris, as all the works of Saint-Exupà © à © have been banned in the Nazis occupied by France. Since it was first published, the novel has been adapted to various media for decades, including audio recordings, stage, ballet, and opera work.
The fantasy-music adaptation of The Little Prince was directed and produced by Stanley Donen, and starred Steven Warner in the title role, with Richard Kiley as the pilot, entitled The Pilot. Additional cast members include Bob Fosse as The Snake, Gene Wilder as The Fox, Donna McKechnie as the grumpy, vain Rose, Joss Ackland as The King, and Victor Spinetti as The Historian. The desert sequence film was shot at a location in Tunisia. In real life, the character of The Fox is believed to be based on one of the lovers of Saint-ExupÃÆ'à © y, Sylvia Hamilton Reinhardt, with The Rose attributed to the writer's wife, Countess Consuelo de Saint Exupà © à © ry.
Production is the last musical of Lerner and Loewe. The music creative team is not satisfied with the treatment of Hollywood films, with Loewe refusing to visit London to oversee setting and recording the score.

Plot
Based in 1943 classic book of the same name by Antoine de Saint-Exupà © à © ry, fable tells the story of a pilot (played by Richard Kiley) who was forced to make an emergency landing in the Sahara Desert. There he befriended a boy, Little Prince, who had descended to Earth from Asteroid B-612. In the days that followed, Pilots heard about his past and various travels throughout the solar system.
As he travels through space, the Little Prince meets some strange adults in different planetoids, all in a tilted or curious way to see life. But not until he finally reached Earth, that the Little Prince learned his most important life lesson, especially from The Fox (Gene Wilder), and The Snake (Bob Fosse). Before the Little Prince died, he shared the lesson with The Pilot. Although The Pilot tries to keep the Little Prince alive, the boy disappears in the morning and the Pilot searches for him in the desert but gives up after realizing that Little Prince never existed. Soon the Pilot can start his plane and fly away but hear the laughter of Little Prince on starry nights; he was sure the boy had returned to the sky.

Legacy
Bob Fosse appeared in the movie as The Snake for one song, "A Snake in the Grass", where he performed his own choreographed dance sequences, which included Fosse trademark elements such as hip encouragement, jazz hand and the use of hats and jackets as a tool display. The scene in the film has long been speculated to have been a major influence on the costume and choreography of singer Michael Jackson for the 1982 hit song "Billie Jean". Fosse dance sequences even include variations on the moonwalk, a step dance that included Jackson in the show "Billie Jean" which will be a typical movement.
