Plot
In the distant future where space travel and colonization have become the norm, humanity has expanded its living space to far from known galaxies. A hundred years before the beginning of the series, some colonies, who wanted to gain their independence, revolted against their master in the Stellar Alliance Colony Federation. Government of one of the newly colonized planets, Sea of ​​the Morningstar ( ??????? ) in the Tau Ceti system , recruited the Space Pirates to increase their combat power, legalize their actions by issuing marque letters.
In the midst of this conflict, Galactic Empire arises and absorbs both the Stellar Alliance and the border world, but allows the colonies to run in independent government. Although peace has been achieved, the space pirates remain a respected figure in Imperial society, although their activities are now reduced to more legal work (such as performing tasks and launching attacks for the entertainment of space explorers) in which their knowledge of the wild space of the system proved very useful. The first three of seven novels were published in October 2008, April 2009, and November 2009 respectively. Until January 2018, twelve novels have been released.
Anime

Manga
A manga adaptation illustrated by Hiro T? Ge began serialization in Asahi Shimbun's Nico Nico Asahi Fantasy Comics web manga publication on Nico Nico Seiga from June 2, 2012. A manga adaptation of the film illustrated by Chibimaru began serialization in Monthly Comic Alive in Media Factory from February 2014. The manga will be licensed in English by Seven Seas Entertainment, which will release its first volume in August 2015 and will be based off the movie version.
