Columbia Speedway is an oval racetrack located in Cayce, a suburb of Columbia, South Carolina. It was an automatic race place for the NASCAR series from 1951 to 1971. Because of its great history, the surface of the race is ground. The race in April and August of 1970 were two of the last three Grand National races ever held on a dirt track. The track was paved before hosting two Grand Grand races last in 1971.

In 2009 attempts to reclaim the property for the historic meeting were made by Jeff Gilder, founder of Racersreunion.com. In February 2009 a small group of volunteers met to clean the brush, wires and old trees. From this small group grew bigger all the volunteer workforce that helped flatten two damaged toilet facilities, repaired the ticket booth, installed the safety lid on the front guardrail, and the secure parking lot. Some local construction companies provide very important ground transfer equipment in moving large mounds of dirt blocking ticket booths. One of them donated materials and built an aluminum flag at the start-finish line. During the final weeks leading up to the festival, different volunteer crews can be found from sun to sunset, seven days a week. No help is denied in the spirit of making this a community project. The Saturday volunteers were treated to a meat lunch and three vegetables provided by Lizards Thicket, a local restaurant, and delivered by John Wise and Rebecca Turner of Love Chevrolet, sponsor of the event. The first meeting is April 25th. More than 30,000 fans from 17 countries attended the "Historic Columbia Speedway Annual Historic Spring Festival". The second annual event will be held 14-17 April 2010.
