The curse associated with sport is superstitious belief in the effective action of some forces or crimes, used to explain the failure or misfortune of a particular sports team, player, or even city. Teams, players, and cities often cite "condemnation" for many negative things, such as their inability to win sports championships, or unexpected injuries.

Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals National Football League (NFL) franchise allegedly suffered a curse by citizens of Pottsville, Pennsylvania for not claiming to claim the 1925 NFL championship of Pottsville Maroons that was stripped of their title by the NFL in one of the greatest controversies in the sport. history. The curse should only be lifted when the championship is returned to Pottsville and into the right red team shade; this can only be met by canceling the original verdict, because Pottsville no longer has an NFL team and is too small to accept the other (with a metropolitan area roughly half the population of Green Bay, the smallest league), making it impossible for the long-dead Maroon to win another title. The Cardinals team hold the record for the longest championship drought, with their latest championship coming in 1947, which is also the longest drought in professional sports. Arizona also lost the Super Bowl XLIII to another Pennsylvania team: Pittsburgh Steelers (whose founder Art Rooney supports Pottsville's claim for the title). The franchise also leads the NFL in total loss (721 to 2014 seasons).
Chicago Bears
George Halas, owner of Chicago Bears, hired a cheerleading squad in 1977 known as the Honey Bear. When he died in 1983, he left the team to his daughter, Virginia Halas McCaskey. Virginia McCaskey did not like cheerleaders because he saw them as "sex objects", and tried to disperse them, but the honey bear had a contract during the 1985 season. The Bears only lost one regular season game that year and won the Super Bowl XX, but Honey Bear contract is not renewed. Regardless of the repeated attempts to restore the Honey Bear, the idea has been killed by the organization, and the Bears have not won the Super Bowl since then. The last time the Bears appeared on the Super Bowl was the Super Bowl XLI. They were defeated by the Indianapolis Colts with a score of 29-17. Since then, the Bears have only made one playoff appearance, in 2010, when they lost the NFC Championship to rival the Green Bay Packers at home.
Detroit Lions
In 1958, the Detroit Lions traded Bobby Layne to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Layne responded to the trade by supposedly saying that the Lion would "not win for 50 years". This story has been disputed as a hoax, especially since the quote was never published at the time.
However, for the next 50 years after trading, the Lions collected the worst percentage of victory from any team in the NFL. They are still one of only two franchises that have been in the NFL since 1970 who have not played in the Super Bowl (another team is the Cleveland Browns, but because of the Browns 'three-year franchise after the 1995 season because of its controversial relocation to Baltimore, the Lions' ). The current postseason Lions record is 1-10 in ten appearances, their single playoff victory coming against Dallas after the 1991 season. In the final year the alleged curse, in 2008, Detroit finished 0-16, the first team to lose every game of the season 16 -competition. When the Pittsburgh Steelers won their fifth Super Bowl championship in 2006, they won it at Ford Field, the home of the Lions.
Madden NFL
Prior to 1999, every annual installment of Madden NFL video game games primarily featured John Madden on the cover. In 1999, Electronic Arts selected the San Francisco 49ers who re-run Garrison Hearst to appear on the cover of the PAL version, and has since featured one of the league's top players in every annual installment despite any resistance from Madden.
While appearing on the cover has become an honor similar to appearing in the Wheaties box, such as the Sports Illustrated cover, some players appearing in Madden the art of video game boxes. experienced a decrease in performance, usually due to injury.
When asked about Madden's "Curse", Chris Erb, director of marketing for Madden, commented, "I do not know that we believe in a curse, the players do not believe in the curse."
New York Jets
The New York Jets franchise is purportedly cursed for never winning the championship because of the alleged deal that their legendary quarterback, Joe Namath, was made with the devil before the Super Bowl III. With the 17-point Jets underdogs into the strong Baltimore Colts, Namath is said to have met with the devil and told him, "If you give me this victory, the Jets do not have to win another championship during my life." The Jets won the game 16-7, one of the biggest annoyances in American sports history, and has not played in other Super Bowls ever since.
Since 1969, the Jets have a 0.450 win percentage and have been in four conference championship games, each losing in 1982, 1999, 2009, and 2010.
Philadelphia Eagles
This curse allegedly prevented the Philadelphia Eagles franchise from winning the Super Bowl game. The origin of this curse dates back to 1960, when the Eagles defeated Vince Lombardi and the Green Bay Packers in the 1960 NFL Championship Match. This will be the only playoff defeat in Lombardi's training career. After Lombardi's death in 1970, the league honored his legacy by naming the Super Bowl trophy thereafter. This name change, combined with the Eagles' inability to win other championships after their 1960 win, caused some Eagles fans to believe the franchise was condemned by Vince Lombardi; that defeating Lombardi means never winning a trophy named after him.
The Eagles broke the alleged curse in 2018 by defeating the New England Patriots by a score of 41-33 at the Super Bowl LII.
Super Bowl
The Super Bowl Curse or Super Bowl hangover is a phrase that refers to one of three things that happen in the National Football League (NFL): the Super Bowl participating club with a lower-than-expected performance the following year; NFL teams that do not repeat as Super Bowl champions; and the home team of the Super Bowl who do not play games in their own home field.
This phrase has been used to explain why a losing team can post a below-average winning percentage the following year and why the Super Bowl champion rarely returns to title games the following year. The term has been in use since at least 1992, when The Washington Post commented that "The Super Bowl Curse has thrown out everything in the Washington Redskins." The Jinx who has silenced the defending champion for 15 years has never been in a better shape. This phenomenon is caused by football commentator and former NFL manager Charley Casserly for elements such as "shorter offseason, contract issues, [and] more demand for your players time". Casserly also noted that "once the season starts, you become the biggest game in everyone's schedule." Allegedly the curse, some teams are repeated as Super Bowl champions, including Pittsburgh Steelers twice in the 1970s, Dallas Cowboys in the 1990s, and New England Patriots in the 2000s (decades), and there are many cases of teams that reach the conference championships or further up to four times in a row: the 1990s Cowboys and the Buffalo Bills and the Philadelphia 2000 Eagles into three recent examples.

Football Association
AmÃÆ' à © rica de Cali
Colombian football team AmÃÆ'à © rica de Cali has been under a curse since 1948. There was a discussion that year, in a meeting held by the team owner, about moving AmÃÆ'à © rica into a professional league. BenjamÃÆ'n Urrea, one of the owners, opposed the idea, so he said famously "They can do whatever they want with the team, but I swear to God they will never be champions". He leaves the room, while the other owners laugh at him, and he never returns to the team. The team had to wait for 31 years to earn its first professional title, in 1979. In 1980, journalist Rafael Medina and singer Antonio del Vivar performed an expulsion ritual on the Amà © rica home field, to help the team overcome the curse in the Copa Libertadores, a deciding tournament which team won the South American championship. After the show, the team went on to win five consecutive national titles, but, although the seven more national championships the team has gained since then, some fans still believe the curse is alive, as Amà © rica de Cali is notorious for not being able to win the title This South America. The team had four runners-ups in the Copa Libertadores, three of them in a row - 1985, 1986 and 1987. The last sequence was very painful for the fans, as the team lost the title in the last minute overtime in the third game, when the tie would give them the title due to goal difference, leading the Colombian narrator to a dramatic narrative of the goal.
Amà © à © rica de Cali is known as The Red Devils because of the shield of demon sports teams, with horns, tails and trident, which caused some players to cover their own shields with ribbons to overcome the curse, apparently unsuccessful. During the twelve-year period of Gabriel Ochoa as coach, the emblem was removed from the uniform for personal religious reasons and, upon returning to uniform, was removed again in 1992. In 2010 the peak with the demon was revived and the team went to severe financial problems that moving Colombian football authorities to ask the team to pay its debts if they want to play during the 2011 season, the first of five seasons they spent in relegation. The team returns to the first division for the 2017 season.
Australian national team
In a story narrated in Johnny Warren's 2002 autobiography, Sheilas, Wogs and Poofters, during a trip to play against Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in Mexico City's 1970 World Cup qualifier in Mozambique, a member of Australia's national football team (nicknamed "Socceroos"), including Warren, consults with shamans who precede their game. The witch doctor buried the bone near the goalpost and condemned the opposition, and Australia went on to beat Rhodesia 3-1 in the decider set. However, the move backfired when the players could not file a £ 1,000 demands required by a witch doctor as payment, and he then cursed the team. Furthermore, the Socceroos failed to defeat Israel and did not qualify.
While this curse is used as an explanation for failing to qualify for the World Cup for 32 years, including in the last game in qualifying 1994, 1998 and 2002, the curse was used in particular referring to the failure to qualify for the 1998 World Cup by drawing aggregates against Iran, 2-0 in the second half of the final qualifying match.
The curse should have been picked up by John Safran during episode 7 of his 2004 TV series John Safran vs God . After reading the story in Warren's book, Safran went to Mozambique and hired a new shaman to channel the original to reverse the curse. The following year, the Socceroos not only qualified for the 2006 World Cup, but reached the second round before being beaten by Italy at Kaiserslautern. The Socceroos have qualified for the 2010 World Cup, 2014 and 2018.
Australia appeared in the 1974 FIFA World Cup after a suspected curse had been placed. However, they failed to score in one of their opening three opening matches, and were eliminated.
S.L. Benfica
BÃÆ' à © la Guttmann, a former Hungarian footballer and then a manager, joined Benfica in 1959 and coached the Portuguese club into two Primeira Liga titles, one Portuguese Cup and two European Cups. In 1962, after his second European Cup title, he asked for a raise but his request was denied despite the great success he achieved at the Lisbon club, also causing his contract to be terminated. Later, he condemned the club by stating: "Not in a hundred years from now, Benfica will become European champion." Benfica has appeared in five European Cup finals and three UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League final since 1962 and lost in eight matches.
Birmingham City F.C. Birmingham City F.C.
English football side Birmingham City F.C. playing 100 years under the alleged curse from 1906 to 2006. As a legend, the club moved from Muntz Street to its current location at St. Andrew's, building a stadium on the ground used by the Romani people. After they were forced to move, the angry Romans set up a 100-year-old frenzy in the stadium.
Over the years many Birmingham City managers will try to remove the curse but with little success. Former manager Ron Saunders attempted to expel a curse in the 1980s by placing a cross in the spotlight and painting the underside of his red players' shoes. Another manager, Barry Fry, who was in charge from 1993 to 1996, peed in all four corners of the field after the forecaster said he would break the spell. At Boxing Day 2006 the curse was finally lifted and on that day Birmingham City celebrated a 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers FC. Just over four years after the alleged curse ended, Birmingham City finally won the first major final in their history - beating Arsenal 2-1 to win the League Cup at Wembley.
Derby County F.C.
Derby County's English football side was placed under a curse by a group of Gypsy Romani who were forced to move from the camp so they could build their stadium, Ground Baseball. The curse is that Derby County will never win the FA Cup. It reflects the curse placed in Birmingham City F.C..
Despite reaching six FA Cup semi-finals between 1896 and 1903, including three finals, they never managed to win the trophy. The next time they reached the final was in 1946 against Charlton Athletic. In preparation for the final, representatives of the clubs went to meet the Gypsies in an effort to lift the curse. During the game, with the score tied at 1-1, the ball erupts. Since then it has been seen by fans of the club as the moment the curse was revoked. Derby County won the match 4-1.
Hibernian F.C.
Scottish football team Hibernian suffered a 114-year wait to win their third Scottish Cup, eventually doing so against Rangers in the 2016 final. Before this success, Hibs had lost ten Scottish Cup finals in a drought stretching back to 1902. Hibernian Hoodoo made more important by their relative success at other Scottish football awards - Leith's team won four league titles and three cup leagues while remaining fruitless in their quest for Scottish Cup glory. Regardless of the remaining outstanding strength in Scottish football and building up excellent sides like the Famous Five and the Turnbull Tornado, the Hibs have so long been unable to lift the oldest trophy in the world of football.
Some Hibs fans attributed the absence of a Scottish Cup success to the curse that gypsy women allegedly committed to the club during the leadership of Harry Swan. While remodeling work was underway at Hibernian's Easter Road stadium in the 1950s, the harp peak - which had been featured in the South Stand symbolizing the Irish root Hibernian - was removed and then did not reappear when the work was completed. During the 2015-16 season, the modern day badge of Hibs (which includes the harp) is placed over the facade of the West Stand on Easter Road. Less than eight months after the harp was restored to the wall of Easter Road, Hibernian was once again the winner of the Scottish Cup after more than a century in its making.
The origins of the curse began during the final of the Mexican League winter tournament in 1997, contested between Cruz Azul and Club LeÃÆ'ón in a two-leg match. At that time they are the 3rd and 4th teams with the most league championships in Mexico. Both teams tied up to the last moments of the second leg when goalkeeper Leon ÃÆ'ngel Comizzo kicked Cruz Azul star striker Carlos Hermosillo in the face, causing Hermosillo to throw heavy blood inside the penalty area, leading to a foul and a penalty kick in Cruz Azul goodness. When a penalty was awarded, the referee asked Hermosillo to wipe the blood from his face, but Hermosillo ignored it and took the penalty kick, scoring a late winner. Cruz Azul became the eighth league champion in club history, but fans believe the two teams were cursed by blood. Leon was then relegated to the inferior league in 2002 but since 2012 they were promoted back to the now-renamed MX League (formerly Primera DivisiÃÆ'ón) and will then become back-to-back league champions after beating Club AmÃÃà © rica in the playoff Apertura 2013, breaking their share of the curse.
On the other hand, Cruz Azul has lost several finals in the Mexican league, CONCACAF Champions League, and Copa Libertadores, many of them at the last minute, whose part they are in the curse is true. Although Cruz Azul won the 2013 Clausura edition of the Copa MX and the CONCACAF Champions League in 2014, the club have not won their first league championship since 1997. Their loss and inability to win the league championship have rival club fans delegating Cruz Azul under the title " i) Sub-CampeonÃÆ'simos "(literally" the highest of runner-ups. ") In addition, the term" 'Cruzazulear' "(to appeal Cruz Azul) was created to describe whenever teams (or any team in general ) lost in an embarrassing way.
Ramsey Curse
Online users and tabloid journalists have written about "Curse of Ramsey", in which celebrities die within hours of footballer Aaron Ramsey scoring goals. This phenomenon has emerged after the death of high profile as happened to Osama bin Laden, Muammar Gadaffi, Steve Jobs, Whitney Houston, Robin Williams, Paul Walker, David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Nancy Reagan, Chester Bennington and Roger Moore. Bayer Leverkusen
German Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen was nicknamed "Neverkusen", "Vizekusen" ( vize meaning "second") and "Bridesmaid of Europe" for his record during the 1990s to 2000s in achieving final tournament but failed to win an actual title or finish runner-up in the league. Bayer was runner-up in the Bundesliga for three consecutive seasons (1998-99, 1999-2000, 2001-02) and, in the 2016-17 season, has yet to win the title. The nicknames were popularized after the 2001-02 season when the club became runners-up in two major domestic competitions (league and cup) and Champions League. In addition, the German national team who finished runner-up to Brazil in the 2002 FIFA World Cup Final featuring five Leverkusen players.
Mexico national team
The Mexican national team has been eliminated from every FIFA World Cup in the 16th stage from 1994 onwards, with the first incident taking place at the 1994 FIFA World Cup when the team lost to Bulgaria on penalties, and has since been eliminated on the same stage of each tournament thereafter (losing to Germany in 1998, the United States in 2002, Argentina in 2006 and 2010 and the Netherlands in 2014).

Baseball
Baltimore Orioles
This curse, originally created in the book The Worst of Sports, is a proper explanation of Baltimore Orioles not making it or winning the World Series since 1983. In Game 1 of the 1996 American League Championship series, Derek Jeter of New York The Yankees hit the ball flying to the right field. Jeffrey Maier, a 12-year-old fan from Old Tappan, New Jersey, reached the fence to pick up the ball, and, instead of ruling as a fan distraction, referee Rich Garcia decided it was home run, allowing the Yankees to win the game, , and finally, the World Series.
Since the home run, the following events associated with the curse include:
- Rafael Palmeiro and Sammy Sosa testify to Congress about the use of steroids in baseball;
- The fall of the Orioles during the 2005 season;
- The Yankees win the ALDS 2012 against the Orioles three games into two.
Boston Red Sox
Some have alleged that there was a curse placed on the Boston Red Sox, which failed to win the World Series after 1918, apparently due to the sale of Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees. Prior to the sale, the Red Sox had won four titles in seven years (1912-1918). After the sale, Yankees went on to win 27 World Series Championships. The "curse" was broken when, after 86 seasons, the Red Sox beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4 games to 0 in the 2004 World Series (before the Series, the Red Sox had returned from a 3-game-to-0 deficit, the first in postseason history Major League , to defeat the Yankees at the original Yankee Stadium for the American League banner).
Chicago Cubs and White Sox
Both Chicago baseball teams are involved in the alleged curse. Chicago Cubs, having benefited from baserunning errors by New York Giants' Fred Merkle over the last few weeks of the season, won the 1908 World Series. From 1909 to 2015, the Cubs did not win the World Series, despite participating as National League champions (NL) seven times between 1910 and 1945. The 1945 World Series appearance was the most important because it marked the start of the Billy Goat Curse. The incident involved Billy Sianis, owner of Billy Goat Tavern, who was asked to leave the World Series versus Detroit Tigers game due to the smell of his pet goat upsets other fans. From 1946 to 2015, the closest Cubs have advanced to the World Series are five outs away in game 6 of the 2003 NLCS vs. Florida Marlins, when Steve Bartman, a Cubs fan, is trying to catch a foul ball. The Cubs defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series (NLCS), winning the first National League (NL) national flag since 1945. The Cubs finally won the 2016 World Series against Indian Cleveland, their first championship in 108 years. The Chicago White Sox is said to have been condemned for their role in fixing the 1919 World Series. As a result, the Cincinnati Reds won the series in eight games, and eight White Sox players were banned by baseball for their actions in throwing the series. The White Sox will not win another World Series until 2005, when they sweep the Houston Astros in four games
Indian Cleveland
This curse purportedly prevents Indian Cleveland from competing in a banner race, achieving a postseason play, or winning the American League (AL) and/or World Series flag. The origin of this curse comes from the 1960s, when the Indians sold outer Rocky Colavito to the Detroit Tigers for players outside Harvey Kuenn. The Indians played in and lost the World Series in 1995, 1997, and 2016, and last won the Series in 1948.
Hanshin Tigers
This curse should be thrown at Hanshin Tigers by Colonel Harland Sanders (founder and mascot of Kentucky Fried Chicken) after team fans threw his statue into Kanal D? Tonbori while celebrating the 1985 Japan Tiger Championship Series.
San Francisco Giants
This curse is an alleged hexa placed in the San Francisco Giants after moving from New York City and referring to Bluff Coogan which is a cliff overlooking the Polo Grounds, home of Giants in New York. In 1921, the Giants honored Eddie Grant, the first Major League Baseball player killed in World War I, with a plaque in the middle, but the plaque was lost during a field invasion by fans following the Giants' last game at Polo Grounds at the end of the 1957 season.
Since then, the Giants, who have won five World Series titles, all but the first with Eddie Grant's plaque at the centerfield, lost in the next three World Series appearances, including the '89 Series that was delayed by the Loma Prieta earthquake. Two of the series losses were in the seventh game.
The Giants were approached several times with an offer to replace the plaque, but management refused, citing reasons to keep the New York team's history separate. But the team finally succumbed, putting up a replica of the original plaque at AT & amp; T Park on Remembrance Day, 2006. A club official at the time said, "Baseball fans are superstitious, and players too, so you have to take this seriously, and if by placing a plaque we can break some kind of curse, who says it not the right thing to do? "
The Giants won their first World Series in San Francisco in 2010, followed by World Series victories in 2012 and 2014. It should mention that all three wins were won on the road, away from San Francisco.

Mayo GAA
The Curse '51 allegedly prevented Mayo win the Sam Maguire Cup once more, or at least until death had occurred to every member of the last winning team from 1951. It remained unbroken - even though the team reached the final on nine occasions. since then, they have completely collapsed on that day or have been paralyzed by a series of other unfortunate events.
The legend tells us that while the thrilling Mayo team was passing by Foxford in a triumphant journey home, the team failed to wait quietly for a cemetery crater to pass the road to the cemetery. The chairman's imam consistently put a curse on Mayo's football to never win the next All-Ireland Final until all 1951 team members died.
In 1989, Mayo reached their first All-Ireland Football Championship Final since their last victory in 1951 and lost to Cork. In 1996, a strange point by Meath at the end of the round forced a replay, which saw Mayo concede another late score that would deny their victory. Kerry bridged the 11-year title difference against them in 1997 with a three-point win, before torturing them by eight points in 2004 and thirteen points in 2006
Mayo returns to the Finals of the All-Ireland Senior Soccer Championship in 2012. Even with Taoiseach Enda Kenny in Rome seeking divine intervention through Pope Benedict XVI the day before, the "Kafka black joke" continues from the abandoned place - with Donegal allowed to bridge the 20 years between the titles, helping in small part by opening nightmare to Mayo as Michael Murphy - whose father is from Mayo - launched a rocket shot on goal after three minutes. Then, in the eleventh minute, Colm McFadden snatched the ball from Kevin Keane's grasp and put him on goal for Donegal's second goal. Mayo scored only after sixteen minutes and never led at any point during the game. They eventually lost by thirteen points to Donegal's two goals and eleven.
They lost again in 2013, this time with a single point to Dublin.
They qualify for the 2016 Finals on September 18, 2016 where they face Dublin, the curse seems to strike again when they scored two own goals in the opening half before playing with Dublin in the last few minutes of the game. They face Dublin again in a rematch on October 1, 2016 but lost one point.
Mayo appear again in the 2017 Final on September 17, 2017 where they face Dublin. The curse seems to strike again and they lose one point.
After Father Peter Quinn's death in January 2016, only two surviving members from 1951 All the Irish winning teams remain: PÃÆ'ádraig Carney and Paddy Prendergast.

Biddy Early is a 19th-century healer from Feakle in County Clare who is remembered as a magician. His curse or prophecy is said to be diverse to the two long-running throwing teams at the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship: Clare (1914-1995) and/or Galway (1923-1980). Both districts played a famous semi-final in the 1932 Championship: Clare won, but lost to Kilkenny's final. After Clare's "curse" broke down in 1995, Billy Loughnane from Ennis wrote to The Irish Times :
Biddy Early is remembered at Co Clare as an extraordinary woman who devotes her time to comfort and heal the sick. He is not known to ever curse anyone. He encountered some difficulties with a local clergyman that day, for his own reasons, would label him a "wizard". The priest's evil intentions have been greatly assisted recently by journalists and commentators (outside Clare) who have been busy referring to the "Initial Curse of Biddy". Who started this silly garbage?... Some of these people will try to tell us that Biddy decides that Clare will not win the All-Ireland until after all the 1914 team died. Biddy Early died in 1875 before the establishment of the GAA and long before there was inter-county competition!

Canadian Team
In 1993, The Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup in the wake of Robert Roy's stubborn effort. This is Roy's second Stanley Cup with Montreal, and Conn Smythe both (Awarded the Most Valuable Player of the NHL playoffs). This confirmed him as one of the major NHL players. This is also the 24th Canadian Cup Stanley Championship, as they are historically the most dominant NHL team, winning 25.3% of all trophies, by 2014. In 1995, Montreal hired coach Mario Tremblay. Tremblay and Roy have a tense relationship from the days of playing Tremblay. Tremblay consistently mocks Roy's struggle to speak English. On December 2, 1995, Montreal played Detroit. In what would be the worst loss at home in Montreal's storied history, Roy will allow 9 goals before being drawn. In hockey, you usually pull the goalkeeper early when they have a bad night. Roy then states that Tremblay did this to embarrass him. After Roy was withdrawn, he left by Canadiens President Ronald Corey and told him, "This is my last game in Montreal." He traded to Colorado Landslide four days later in what is known as "Le Trade". This is considered one of the most oblique trades in NHL history. In the same year, Avalanche won their first Stanley Cup. The curse is not spoken or implied by anyone. But by 2018, no Canadian team has won a trophy since Roy 1993 Canadiens. Now known as "The Curse of St. Patrick".
Calgary Flames
The significant loss experienced by the Calgary Flames during a game played in Anaheim has been referred to as the "Honda Central Curse". After winning the 3rd game of the 2006 Western Conference Final Quarter at Arrowhead Pond on April 25, 2006, the Flames have lost the NHL record of 29 consecutive away games at the Arrowhead Pond/Honda Center, including all 27 matches played there. under the name of the current arena (the arena of being a Honda Center starting in the 2006-07 season). Of these 29 defeats, 2 came in the remainder of the game from the 2006 Western Conference Final Quarter, 3 came in the Western Conference Finals 2015, and 2 came in the Finals of the Western Conference 2017 Quarter Final. Subsequently, the last regular season's Flames win in Anaheim came on January 19, 2004. Flames lost a streak at then Arrowhead Pond/Honda Center has caused some Duck fans to mock Flames with shouting "You can not win here!". On October 9, 2017, the Calgary Flames beat the Ducks 2-0, ending the 29th (regular 25th consecutive) NHL record in consecutive games including the Stanley Cup Playoffs at the then Arrowhead Pond/Honda Center.
Chicago Blackhawks
A suspected curse was placed in the Chicago Blackhawks in 1927 by head coach Pete Muldoon when he was fired, stating that they will never again finish in the first place. The "curse" was first mentioned in print in 1943 by Toronto sports writer Jim Coleman. They will not finish in the first place in their division (1928-1937) or in the NHL single division (after 1938) until 1967, the last season of the Six-Original era, despite winning the Stanley Cup three times since Muldoon is said to "condemn" the team. However, soon after this, Coleman admitted that he had completely fabricated a "curse" to break the writer's block.
Los Angeles Kings
During the 2nd game of the Stanley Cup Final in 1993, with Los Angeles Kings leading Montreal Canadiens 2-1, Canadiens coach Jacques Demers called on ice officials to measure the curvature of defenseman stick Kings Marty McSorley. Stick McSorley is considered illegal and he was given a two-minute penalty. McSorley's absence allowed Canadiens to score at the end of the third period to impose extra time, and Canadiens scored in extra periods to win the game and even draw in one game each. The Canadiens will next win the next three games of the series to win the Stanley Cup. This series is the last one played by Kings in the Stanley Cup final, until they win the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history in 2012 and again in 2014. Incidentally, the Canadiens championship victory in this series is the latest time the team of National Hockey League (NHL) based in Canada won the Stanley Cup.
New York Rangers
The 1940 curse is a mystical explanation for the failure of the NHL's New York Rangers to win the Stanley Cup since 1940. It broke down when Rangers beat the Vancouver Canucks 4-3 in 1994.
Toronto Maple Leafs
NHL player Bill Barilko, from Toronto Maple Leafs, just scored the Stanley Cup winner in the 1951 season in extra time against Montreal Canadiens. Out of season, he goes fishing with his dentist. Their plane crashed, both passengers died. Maple Leafs did not win another trophy until 1962, 11 years after the accident, and in the same year the body of Barilko was found. His number has been retired by Maple Leafs to honor his legacy and remember it after his death. The Maple Leafs also mainly have the longest Stanley Cup drought at the moment because they have not won a trophy since 1967. In fact, Maple Leafs has not even returned to the Stanley Cup Final since.

Ascari's curse is a "curse" involving Antonio Ascari and his son Alberto who suffered terrible deaths. Both died at the age of 36 years in a racing accident 30 years, Incidentally they also died on the 26th of the month. They also left a wife and two children. Ascari's good friend, rider Eugenio Castellotti who Ferrari Ascari was driving on the day of his death, will die just two years after he was in an accident in 1957, also at Ferrari.
Allison's Family
Allison's family is a renowned family in NASCAR. Bobby Allison who won the Daytona 500 in 1978, 1982 and 1988 will be the first of Allison to have a major accident during the race, first in Talladega, Alabama in 1987 where Bobby will hit the fence and second at Pocono in 1988 where he suffered a career end accident.
In 1992, Bobby's youngest son Clifford will be killed in a racing accident while his other son Davey will have a terrible accident near Pocono after his car overturned several times and crashed into a guardrail, strangely the same line where Bobby had his career ending accident. Davey will then be killed in a helicopter crash.
Andretti Family
Since winning the Indianapolis 500 in 1969, car racing legend Mario Andretti has been plagued with misfortune in his bid to win a major race for a second time before retiring in 1994. The misfortune in Indianapolis has extended to his sons Michael and Jeff, John's niece, and Marco's grandson. It is also said to have influenced, indirectly, Aldo's twin brother, and former car owner Paul Newman and Carl Haas of Newman/Haas Racing.
Michael Andretti has won the race five times as the owner, but three times each driver then defected to the opposing team the following year.
Talladega Speedway
NASCAR race track Talladega Superspeedway has been said to have been condemned by a Native American shaman; another story claims that it was built on the burial ground of India. The curse allegedly explained the high number of unusual events, premature deaths, and spectacular accidents that hit the track since its opening in 1969. During the 1970s, on the eve of the race, about a dozen cars were put up with a gas tank filled with sugar or sand, and tires also slashed. Bobby Isaac, the 1970 Cup winner, parked his mid-race car even though there was nothing wrong with the car. When asked why, Isaac claimed a voice from above ordered him to park the car.

Croatia Croatian curse of '95
Biddy Early is remembered at Co Clare as an extraordinary woman who devotes her time to comfort and heal the sick.
The Croatian men's national basketball team was involved in controversy during the medal ceremony at the FIBA ââEuropean Championship 1995. Just before the winning Yugoslav team will receive their gold medal, the Croatian team placed in third place, in an unprecedented step, withdrew from the medal podium and walked out of court. The Croatian basketball team has never set foot on the medal podium in the big international competition ever since. The curse theory has more confidence given that Croatia won medals in every competition every year since becoming an independent state before the curse took place (silver in the 1992 Olympics, Silver and Bronze in EuroBasket competitions 1993 and 1995 with respect, and Bronze at the FIBA ââWorld Championship â ⬠< â ⬠<1994). In 2017 (22 years later) the closest they came to win medals since was Eurobasket 2013 third place place in which Croatia lost to Spain in a 92-66 blast. With a curse that is expected to last 95 years, they are scheduled to win the next medal at EuroBasket 2091.
Kennett Curse (AFL)
This is the name given to the match of 11 AFL games to the losing Hawthorn club against Geelong rivals, from the AFL Grand Final 2008 to the preliminary final of 2013. After the Hawks won the 2008 prime minister, then-Hawthorn President Jeff Kennett stated that Geelong "lacked the mentality to defeat Hawthorn in a big game ". However, since then, Geelong beat Hawthorn eleven times in a row, most of the games decided by 10 points or less. The winning streak is also linked to comments made by Paul Chapman that Cats will "never lose them again" after the 2008 Grand Final. Chapman missed a winning grunt at the Hawthorn in 2013 due to a suspension.
Canadian curling
In the 1972 Air Canada Curling Silver tournament, Robert LaBonte, the American team's leap, accidentally kicked the Canadian team's rocks at the end of the game. This puts the match into an additional final, and Canada wins another point to win the championship. Canada did not win another World Championship until 1980, and it is said that LaBonte puts a "curse" in Canada.
The BasedGod Curse
In May 2011, the Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Kevin Durant tweeted the humiliation directed at rapper cult Lil B, a.k.a. "The BasedGod," in which Durant said he did not believe in the idea that Lil B had become "relevant". In response, Lil B tweeted out the CostGod Curse, claiming that Durant would never win an NBA championship. The two men exchanged insults and challenges related to basketball on Twitter. In June 2012, Lil B claimed on Twitter that he had raised the curse; However, in February 2014, during the NBA All-Star Game in which Durant played, Lil B again insulted Durant on Twitter, implying that the curse had returned. Lil B then released a diss song directed at Durant entitled "Fuck KD". in 2016, Thunder bucked a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference Finals to the Golden State Warriors. At the end of the season, he goes to the Warriors. On July 4, 2016, after the announcement, Lil B canceled the curse again. In the 2017 NBA Finals, Golden State Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in five games to win the NBA championship, giving Durant his first first title.
St George Illawarra Dragons
In the National Rugby League (NRL), Canberra's curse refers to the constant inability of St George Illawarra Dragons' to defeat the Canberra Raiders on their home ground, or anywhere between 2000 and 2014. The Raiders enjoy unusual dominance of the Dragon, match between pairs regularly regardless of which team enjoys favoritism or land advantage. This curse ends in Round 23, 2014, with the Dragons winning 34-16; it was their first win over the Raiders in Canberra since 2000, as a whole since 2007, but only the second since 2001.
Master Tournament
The annual Master Tournament held at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia begins with an informal par-3 competition. None of these winners has ever won major tournaments in the same year. Eleven golfers won both the contest and the Masters, with two of them winning the Masters at the end of their career after winning the contest. Raymond Floyd came closest to winning in 1990, but he lost in a sudden playoff death.
World Snooker Championship
In snooker, "Crucible Curse" refers to the fact that there is no first winner in the World Snooker Championship who has defended his title since the event was first held at the Crucible Theater in Sheffield in 1977. Of the first 17 champions in this era, only two made finals in the following year, and six were eliminated in their first game. The "curse" can even be seen in the pre-Crucible era - the first three champions between the start of the "modern era" of the championship in 1969 and moving to Crucible all lost in their respective semi-final matches of the following year. All three players went on to win the championship at Crucible, and all failed to defend their title after their first win of the place.
Many sports
Atlanta, Georgia
The city of Atlanta, Georgia has won just one major professional sports championship (World Series 1995).
National Football League (NFL) Atlanta Falcons won their first division championship in 1980 and favored the Dallas Cowboys in a division playoff game. Despite lagging 24-10 early in the fourth quarter, the Cowboys came back to beat the Falcons 20-3 in the quarter to beat Falcons 30-27. In 1998, the Falcons advanced to play in the club's first Super Bowl game after disappointing the highly favored Minnesota Vikings at the 30-27 NFC Championships; However, the Falcons lost to John Elway (in his final game) and Denver Broncos 34-19 at Super Bowl XXXIII. In 2010 and 2012 Falcons held the number 1 seed in the NFC playoffs, but were annoyed by the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers, respectively. The latter took place at the NFC Championship Game, where the Falcons led 17-0. In Super Bowl LI, the second Super Bowl appearance of The Falcons, Atlanta jumped to a 28-3 lead over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. However, the Falcons suffered the greatest downfall in the history of the Super Bowl (25 points, the previous record was 10) and lost to Patriots 34-28 in the first Super Bowl game ever decided in an extra-time period.
Consistently placing one of the best teams in Major League Baseball, Atlanta Braves won 14 direct division titles from 1991 to 2005, but won the World Series only once (1995). In the 1996 World Series, Braves seemed poised to win their second championship after jumping out to lead the 2-0 home series. However, Braves lost 4 straight games to the New York Yankees, including Game 4 where they led 6-0 at one point. Braves have only played in one World Series since (1999; Braves were swept in four games by the New York Yankees). A famous example of the Atlanta sporting curse as it relates to Braves including Lonnie Smith, Ed Sprague, Charlie Leibrandt (in Back-to-Back World Series), Jim Leyritz, big strike zone Eric Gregg, Brooks Conrad error, Blow 8/2 game Wild Card leads in September 2011, and the 2012 National Wild League League Game.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) Atlanta Hawks has not played in the NBA Finals since moving club from St. Louis. Louis, Missouri in 1968. Their appearance was only in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2015, where they swept four games without a team despite being 60-win and number one at the conference.
In addition, Atlanta has lost two National Hockey League (NHL) franchises to Canadian cities: the Atlanta Flames (which moved to Calgary in 1980) and the Atlanta Thrashers (which moved to Winnipeg in 2011), both due to low attendance, ownership the bad one. , or both.
Georgia Bulldogs 2017 college football team blew a 13-point lead at half time at the 2018 Football Championship Playoff Championship to Alabama and lost 26,3 in extra time, though Alabama started their quarterback, Jalen Hurts, in the first half.
The Atlanta Women's National Basketball (WNBA) team, Dream Atlanta, is also the victim of the city's curse. All three times the team has reached the WNBA Finals, they have swept the three games to none every time (2010, 2011 and 2013).
Off the field, the curse has found its way to the athlete as well. Eugene Robinson, who played for the Falcons during the 1998 season, was arrested for asking prostitutes the night before Super Bowl XXXIII. Michael Vick's arrest for an illegal dog fighting ring came when he was with the Falcons. Thabo Sefolosha, the Hawks defender in 2015, was arrested in New York City a few weeks before the start of the NBA preliminary round and suffered a tibia fracture while on hold.
Buffalo, New York
The Buffalo sport curse is an explanation for Buffalo's inability to win the Super Bowl, Stanley Cup, or NBA championship. Those who believe in the Buffalo curse mention for example four Super Bowl losses by the Buffalo Bills for the 1990-1993 season (and the failure of the team to qualify for the NFL playoffs from 2000 to 2017), as well as the failure of Buffalo Sabers to win the Stanley Cup (despite winning the President's Cup for most regular season points in 2006-07). The Bills, however, won two American Football League (AFL) titles (1964 and 1965), the latter taking place just months before a deal was reached to combine the AFL and National Football League (NFL) (Bills Owner Ralph Wilson started talks to merge two leagues , according to Pro Football Hall of Fame). Regardless, it has been argued that this is achieved when the AFL is still in its early stages as a new league, garnering little, if any, national attention before joining the established NFL, and that even if they are considered to be at par, as there will be no Super Bowl until after the 1966 season, the Bills could have been no bigger than the champions. There are some conflicting suggestions about how the bill will fare the same against the Green Bay Packers or the Cleveland Browns, just as there is a dispute about how well the San Diego Chargers will play against Bear in 1963, whether the Super Bowl was there at the time. time.
Some writers and historians in particular attribute the lack of success to the Bills with the location of their current stadium next to the family cemetery and quite possibly on the site of old village Wenro India. There are others who link the 17-year-old playoff vacuum of the Bills with benching quarterback Doug Flutie for the game now known as Music City Miracle, which is also their last playoff game until 2017. One non-supernatural cause of the alleged curse is the owner of Bills Ralph Wilson, who more concerned about running a profitable business than a winning team; Wilson was quoted in 1969 as explicitly did not want to win the championship because it would cause his players to demand more money.
The earliest reference to the curse trail to 1921, when the city's first NFL team, Buffalo All-American, lost the NFL championship that year to what is now Chicago Bears in a controversial tiebreak. Other Buffalo-based teams, such as Buffalo Bandits, Buffalo Bisons, Buffalo Beauts and Western New York Flash, have won championships in their respective leagues, and athletes from Buffalo (with the possible exception of boxing heavyweight Joe Mesi), while playing for teams outside Buffalo, have not been affected and have won many championships. Cleveland, Ohio Cleveland, Ohio
Prior to 2016, Cleveland was especially known for not winning championships in any major sport since 1964, as well as repeatedly losing playoffs in a heartbreaking way. Though the Cleveland Browns won the 1964 NFL Championship Game, the game occurred two seasons before the first Super Bowl and six before the AFL-NFL merger. More than fifty years after winning their last league title, Browns remain one of only four teams who have not played in the NFL title game during the modern era. Recently, the Cleveland Indians lost World Series 1995, 1997, and World Series 2016; since the 2016 season where they lost to previous Chicago Cubs record holders, the Indians experience the longest active drought without winning the World Series. The Cleveland Cavaliers lost the 2007 and 2015 NBA finals, which had been swept in 2007. In 2004, ESPN.com put Cleveland as "a disguised sports city in America". In 2012, Cleveland Scene was dubbed the struggling sports town of "The Curse of Chief Wahoo", a reference to continue to use the controversial logo.
The Cleveland Curse "broke down" when the Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors in Game 7 of the 2014 NBA Finals, thus ending the 52-year Cleveland league drought.
Gillette
Marketing experts have highlighted Gillette's "curse", given the accidents that occurred in sports stars associated with the brand, especially Tiger Woods, Thierry Henry and David Beckham. One exception to the curse is the New England Patriots, who have played at Gillette Stadium since 2002 and won several Super Bowls in that span of time. Gold Coast, Queensland
The Gold Coast is famous for having a poorly performing team in Australia's premier sports league and either folding, rebrand or moving soon after. Most of the city's sports teams never reach the Grand Final of major sports leagues in Australia, let alone win championships/championships. The Gold Coast is often referred to as a "cemetery" because of the many professional sports teams folded in the city. The teams will often get into trouble because of the poor in the field of performances, financial issues, ownership issues and/or under the show immediately after signing the tent players. One of the city's two professional teams today fell almost to the same fate in 2015 when Australian media reported they were trying desperately to avoid a curse.
Houston, Texas
The city of Houston, Texas only won three major league championships in over 50 years of major league sports: The Houston Rockets won the NBA back-to-back Finals in 1994 and 1995, and the Houston Astros won the 2017 World Series.
Houston Astros of Major League Baseball won only two banners in their 56-year history, in 2005 while still in the National League, where they were swept by the Chicago White Sox in four matches in the 2005 World Series; since their move to the American League, they have not won the banner until 2017. In the 1980 National League Championship series, Astros lost in Game 5 as they scored a 3-run advantage at the peak of the eighth innings to the Philadelphia Phillies, who will go on to win in the tenth inning 8 -7. In the 1986 National League Championship Series, Astros lost Game 6 in a heartbreaking way by throwing a 3-run advantage over the ninth inning when the New York Mets scored three runs, forcing an additional round; In the 14th inning, both teams scored one run, and two rounds later, Mets scored 3 more runs while Astros could not finish the comeback and lost the match to the Mets. After four of the five seasons of the first playoffs out of 1997-2001, Astros lost in the 2004 National League Championship Series to the St. Louis Cardinals. In the 2015 Serie A League Division, Astros will lead 6-2 in the eighth inning against the Kansas City Royals in Game 4 before losing five games. Astros will then win the 2017 World Series, 4 games to 3 against the Los Angeles Dodgers in their first appearance as a member of the American League, ending a decade of heartbreak.
The Houston Oilers was founded in 1960 as the inaugural franchise of the American Football League, where they won the first two AFL Championship matches (both against the San Diego Filler); Oilers will join the National Football League during the AFL-NFL merger in the new AFC Central division; Oilers met Pittsburgh Steelers two years in a row in the AFC Championship Game, losing each time (5-34 in 1978 and 13-27 in 1979) and never returning to the AFC Championship Game while they were in Houston. In the 1992-93 NFL playoffs, Oilers blew a 32-point lead to Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card Game 1993; the game is locally known as The Choke in Houston. Two years later, Oilers will move to Nashville and become Tennessee Titans; in 2002, the NFL will return to Houston, this time under the name Houston Texans.
Houston never had a National Hockey League franchise, though the former World Hockey Association had Houston Eros who found some success, winning two championships in 1974 and 1975.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
"The Curse of Billy Penn" was cited as the reason for the failure of the Philadelphia sports team to win the championship since the Philadelphia 76ers swept the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1983 NBA Finals. Some fans believe the city violated a men's agreement in 1987 that no skyscraper could ever be higher than a statue of William Penn at the top of the city hall tower that condemns the city.
When the last ray of Comcast Center construction (the highest structure in Philadelphia to date) was raised on June 18, 2007, a steel worker from Local Union 401 attached William Penn's small figure to the block in an effort to break the curse. The following year, the Philadelphia Phillies won the World Series 2008.
The city's sports team also lost the championship final in the years of presidential inauguration, beginning with the loss of 76ers in the 1977 NBA Finals and including the loss of Phillies in the World Series 2009. During that span, each of the four city teams had lost the championship during the years like that twice.
San Diego, California
The city of San Diego, has never claimed a modern professional North American sporting championship (Super Bowl, World Series, Stanley Cup, or NBA Finals). San Diego is currently home to Major League Baseball San Diego Padres and is home to the National Football League San Diego Chargers from 1961 to 2016 (now in Los Angeles). San Diego has never had a National Hockey League franchise. The city had previously hosted two teams from the National Basketball Association: the San Diego Rockets from 1967 to 1971 (now located in Houston, Texas), and the San Diego Clippers from 1978 to 1984 (now located in Los Angeles).
San Diego also has the longest championship drought in North America with at least one major league franchise. The only San Diego championship was the 1963 AFL Championship, when the Chargers beat the Boston Patriots 51-10, before the AFL joined the NFL to form the current National Football League.
The Chargers will only appear and lose in three championship games since then. The Chargers are set to defend their 1963 AFL title in 1964 against Buffalo Bills. However, key play by Mike Stratton at Keith Lincoln will help win the Bills, 20-7. The following year, Chargers played Bills again in the championship game and closed 23-0. Quarterback for Bills (and MVP games) in both games is former Charger Jack Kemp (and coincidentally, both championships will also be the last for Buffalo). In 1966, team owner and founder Barron Hilton was forced to sell the team to appease the board of directors of the Hilton Hotel. Since Hilton sold the team, Chargers only had one Super Bowl appearance, in 1994, when they lost 49-26 to the San Francisco 49ers, as San Francisco's quarterback and finally Steve Young's MVP threw for a record-breaking Super Bowl goal. In addition, eight members of the 1994 Chargers team, including team captain Junior Seau, died before the age of 45 years.
Founded in 1969, Padres is one of the seven Major League Baseball franchises that have never won the World Series. Of those teams, only Texas Rangers (1961) have been around longer than San Diego. The Padres has twice progressed to the World Series, losing 4-1 to the Detroit Tigers in 1984 and was swept 4-0 by the New York Yankees in 1998. Apart from the 2 World Series appearances, Padres made only 3 playoffs at a later time, and at every appearance, they lose NLDS to St. Louis Cardinals. In 2017, the last time Padres made the playoffs was in 2006, and their last winning season was in 2010. Since their last playoff appearance, Padres is 775-892 (.465). The Padres streak of 10 successive seasons without a playoff appearance is the 3rd longest streak in the league, just behind Florida/Miami Marlins (13) and Seattle Mariners (15). Washington, DC, Washington Washington DC, Washington DC, Washington DC, Washington DC, Washington DC, Washington DC, Washington DC
The city of Washington, DC has never won a major professional sporting championship in 26 years, since the Washington Redskins won the Super Bowl XXVI in 1992. No major sports team is eligible to play in conferences or league or series games between 1998 and 2018, 70 seasons combined. This is the longest running streak in a combined season of any city with at least one major sports team. From cities with three or more major sports teams, D.C. has the second longest title drought, and the longest time without an appearance in the conference finals. Between the 1998 voyage of the Capital to the Eastern Conference Finals and the team trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2018, the Washington, DC sports team has featured in 16 quarterfinal playoffs, losing all 16. Next, the Washington sports team held
