The Stone of Luck is a novel by P. G. Wodehouse, written under a pseudonym Basil Windham . It was compiled from a series that appeared in Chums: An Illustrated Paper for Boys between 16 September 1908 and 20 January 1909, when Wodehouse was 27 years old.
It was first published as a book shortly after the death of 1975 Wodehouse, on March 31, 1997 by Galahad Books, in a limited period with ISBNs 1-898549-13-3. It was later published in paperback by Odbody & amp; Marley (2006), ISBNÃ, 1-4196-2321-4, and hardcover by Everyman Library (2014), ISBN 978-1-84159-195-7.
Like most of Wodehouse's writings about that period, the story is set in the men's general school. But it departs from the usual form as described by Wodehouse in a letter written to a friend: "I've been assigned by Chums to do a 70,000-word series in July They want it not so public- school like my usual stuff and with somewhat spooky plot. "
It is the only mystery novel, adventure, and danger, given the term "blood and thunder" by Wodehouse expert Richard Usborne. Usborne observes, "Wodehouse Without Hesk enjoying writing The Luck Stone ... He has shown, alongside windy along his school novels,... that he has read the width of catchpenny fiction, has enjoyed it all and knows all the tricks. " Despite his departure, The Luck Stone is really" Wodehouse, "with its distinctive stickiness situation, unique character, cunning humor and intelligence, and famous prose. Usborne has a high view of this Wodehouse offer: "You're lucky to have found The Stone of Luck .
All published versions of The Luck Stone include an illustration (totaling about ten) from the original series on Chums . The illustrations below show two different-looking aspects that Wodehouse has assembled in this novel: the ultimate plot that is completely dark, full of suspense, relieved by some funny situations and subplots.
