The Pokémon mon Novel Graphic , better known as Pokée  mon: The Electric Tale of Pikachu < span> ( ??! ????? , Dikeki! Pikach? , "Electric Shock! Pikachu") is a fantasy action adventure manga series created by Toshihiro Ono and serialized in Children's manga magazine CoroCoro Comic . Each chapter was collected into Shogakukan's four volumes of tanks by releasing the first volume on October 28, 1997 and the fourth volume on January 28, 2000. The characters and storyline were all taken from Pokémon mon/i> anime series, although some events and character depictions are slightly different from anime, and the world itself has a much higher technological level.

The manga is published in English in North America by Viz Communications in an "upside down" format from left to right. In 1998 the company released a comic edition; the volume collected comes afterwards. At the time of its release, Edition # 1 was the best-selling manga, and the best-selling comic book of any kind, in the United States. The first volume, The Electric Tale of Pikachu! , released on September 5, 1999, and the third, Electric Pikachu Boogaloo , was released on April 5, 2000.

Development

Toshihiro Ono, the author of this series, said that he started drawing the series after Mr. Saito, Ono's editor, asked Ono to draw a manga to follow the anime. During the manga production, Ono received a script from the anime series. The author then changes the story to fit the desired number of pages used per storyline.

Ono said that his favorite manga chapter was "Clefairy Tale" from the first volume and that he was "embarrassed that I can not say why." According to Ono, he did not find a particular chapter that was more difficult than any other chapter. He said that when the episode "Clefairy in Space" ("Subway no cheek") is in manga form, Ono has to redraw many pages, a time-consuming process. Ono has difficulty drawing Dragonite in the last chapter, as he struggles to "get a cute face to look strong." His favorite human characters to do are Ash Ketchum, Jessie, and James. In particular he likes Jessie and James because they are minor characters and "have more freedom" than the main characters. Therefore, the minor character "is more fun to draw." Ono's favorite character for drawing is Ash Ketchum, Ditto, Nurse Joy, and Oddish.

Character

The Japanese name in the Western order (named before the surname) is given first, followed by the English name. For simplicity, English names will be used in this and other articles on Wikipedia on Pokémon mon, except explicitly referring to the Japanese version.

  • Satoshi / Ash Ketchum - The main character, whose name in the Japanese version (Satoshi) is named Satoshi Tajiri, creator of Pokémon mon game mon. Ash aspires to become Pokémon mon Master, and along with various friends and Pokémon mon who travel with him, embark on many adventures. In a similar way to the game, Ash does this by entering into various Pokémon League League competitions.
  • Kasumi / Misty - A coach Pokémon Water-Type Poké © and Cerulean Town Gym Leader. She is the youngest of four sisters. Like his anime counterpart, he joins Ash on his way after he "borrows" his bike and Pikachu destroys it. Though critical of Ash, he develops feelings towards him, which seems to reciprocate.
  • Takeshi / Brock - Pokémon mon-Type breeder and Flint City Gym Leader. Unlike his anime counterpart, he never joins Ash on his way and the only time they meet is during Ash's battle with him for his second badge.
  • Pikachu , a small creature, like a mouse, is yellow with a lightning tail and the ability to create electrical vibrations from his cheeks. Unlike games or anime, Ash finds this Pikachu chewing the power cord at his home, and saves it as his first Pokémon when he qualifies to become a coach.
  • Shigeru / Gary Oak - His Japanese version (Shigeru) is named after the famous video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. Unlike his anime counterpart, this version of Ash's competitor does not mix with a group of cheerleaders, nor does he travel by car. In fact, the only thing that Gary has along with the Gary anime is his antagonism towards Ash. In the manga epilogue, she travels with Ash.
  • Team Rocket - A chaos that causes 'gangs' that have many goals, especially conquering the world of Pokémon.
  • Musashi / Jessica "Jessie" - The women's section of Team Rocket. In the manga epilogue, she marries James and expects their first child.
  • Kojiro / James - The men's section of Team Rocket. In the epilogue, he quits the gang, marries Jessie, and expects their first child.
  • Nyarth Meowth - The cats that speak from Team Rocket. One of the few Pokémon mon mon that speaks human language.
  • Sakaki / Giovanni - The boss/leader of the rare Rocket Team.
