Cinnamomum verum , called true cinnamon tree or Ceylon cinnamon tree is a small family cypress of Lauraceae, comes from Sri Lanka. Among other species, its inner skin is used to make cinnamon.
The old botanical synonym for trees - Cinnamomum zeylanicum - comes from the former Sri Lankan name, Ceylon. Sri Lanka still produces 80-90% of world supply Cinnamomum verum , which is also cultivated on a commercial scale in Seychelles and Madagascar.
Cinnamomum verum tree is 10-15 meters (30-50 feet) tall. The leaves are oval and 7-18 cm long (3-7 inches). The flowers, arranged in panicles, have a different greenish and odor color. The fruit is purple 1 cm containing single seed.
