Hoshino is highly praised for his art, which has been compared to the works of Joe Madureira, Kelley Jones, and Chris Bachalo by one reviewer and described as "some of the best artwork in the business" by others. His character design received many positive comments ranging from "very beautiful" to "the most visually striking element" of his art and it is said that the male and female readers will enjoy the design. However, he is equally strongly criticized for his lack of skill in drawing action scenes, which leads one reviewer to believe he will not or can not draw a physical battle.

Kehidupan awal

Hoshino was born on April 21, 1980, in Shiga Prefecture, Japan, as the younger of the fraternal twin girls and the second of three children. As a child, he initially dreamed of becoming an astronaut. Hoshino admits he is not very interested in school, often making excuses to avoid taking classes. In addition, he added that often practicing drawing in the middle of a class that gives a doubt when it should remove it. He drew his first manga at the age of twenty-one. As a child he used to read Dragon Quest manga: Dai no Daib? Ken that his brother collected, as well as series by Fuyumi Soryo and Makimura Satoru, which his mother bought. However, he instead preferred anime, especially Studio Ghibli movies. His favorite movie was NausicaÃÆ'¤ of the Valley of the Wind (1984) until watching it many times. While watching Castle in the Sky (1986), Hoshino decides he wants to be an animator, inspired by most Hayao Miyazaki directors. When going to high school, Hoshino started drawing what he believed to be the result of reading the manga Naoko Takeuchi (Sailor Moon) . He often shows a picture of 4 panels known as yonkoma image for his sister who is on the same campus. This 4komas often involves a monkey. In addition, Hoshino stated that he really liked the comedy genre because he wanted to make people laugh.

When Hoshino was 17, he aimed to get animated work on his parents, but he failed. Next year, he tries to do it again and is accepted. Hoshino moved to Tokyo to become an animator. Despite being an artist, Hoshino found a problem with his work. Due to financial problems, Hoshino thinks of returning to his parents but his sister is sure to go to Kyoto. At that time, his sister motivated him to get a job but he failed most of them. At an unknown time, Hoshino is motivated by his mother to start writing manga. He still finds it difficult in his new job, because of several hours at work, problems with storyboards and having to take a bullet train. Nevertheless, Hoshino succeeded in his work. She dreamed of taking her mother to the city and was able to in 2006. After graduating from high school, Hoshino did not know what career she should follow when she was offered a job joining a video game company. Finally, he decided to become a manga writer even though he was afraid of the difficulties he caused.

Nen Jump in July 2003. Due to the lack of popularity Continue , Shueisha staff recommended Hoshino to create series based on Zone . As a result, one-shot Zone is replaced by D.Gray-man ( ??????? , D? Gureiman ) series, which started the publication in Weekly Sh? nen Jump in May 2004 and contains several themes from Zone . The series is more than two hundred long chapters in Japan and sold in more than ten countries, including the United States, France, and Germany. The series is well received in Japan. D. Gray-man is Weekly Sh? nen Jump ' s of the best-selling nine manga in Japan in 2007 and 2008. The fifteenth volume ranked twenty second in 2008 sales of manga in Japan while the fourteenth and sixteenth volumes were placed in two seventy and thirty each. Manga received a prize for Best Manga Series 2006 at the Anime and Manga 2007 Japanese Grand Prix hosted by Animeland and received my Webotaku prize for Manga of the Year 2006. In 2006, the second novel was the third best-selling novel in Japan.

In Japan, D.Gray-man has been in hiatus many times; once because Hoshino fell severely ill with Norovirus and the others because of an injury in his neck. However, this series continued shortly thereafter in both cases. In November 2008, Weekly Sh? Nen Jump announced that Hoshino once again put the series on hold due to a wounded wrist. Style

Hoshino is highly praised for his art and character design. Leroy Douresseaux from Coolstreak Cartoons called Hoshino "a great visualizer" and commented that his "very stylish" art is similar to those of Joe Madureira, Kelley Jones, and Chris Bachalo. Douresseaux described the background as frightening and Lovecraftian and said that Hoshino "made almost every page a pleasant surprise from the gothic and violent style of sickness". However, he believes that character design is the "most visually striking" element and commented that the design and action scenes are very imaginative, even only occasionally seen. Reviewer Charles Tan of ComicsVillage.com feels that this art deserves less praise, saying that it is done competently enough to distinguish the characters while still providing striking scenes with common themes of the sh series? Nen. Ben Leary, a reviewer from Mania.com, felt less positive about the action scene than Tan. Leary believes that Hoshino can not or will not attract a physical battle and instead chooses to rely on an explosion of energy, winds spinning, and impact clashes. Casey Brienza of Anime News Network agrees. He said that "the battle, even at the end of the game as a twelve, remains practically incomprehensible" and it is difficult to say "who does what to whom and when." All that can be seen from Hoshino's "secret layout" is that his characters are fighting. Brienza, however, is positive towards the rest of the art, going so far as to call it "some of the best artwork in the business". He described the style of Hoshino's image as an "aesthetic yet dynamic, very beautiful yet super-violent" style made famous by female manga artists emerging from the subculture d? Jinshi in the late 80s and early 90s, citing Clamp and Yun K? ga as a prominent example. Brienza also praised Hoshino's character design, which he said was "very beautiful and pitched to satisfy both sex fans". When asked about how D.Gray-man can end up with poetic justice, Hoshino finds this difficult because he believes it should end up in a fight unlike other series influences with this style.

Influences

Hoshino has named Takeshi Obata and Osamu Akimoto as inspiration for his work. His most famous work of D.Gray-man is heavily influenced by his previous title. Characters are often brought from unpublished manga Hoshino works early in his career. D. Gray-man and its predecessor Zone share many key concepts, such as the creation of a demon known as akuma, the role of Exorcists to dispel this demon, and the whole. both plots work. The main antagonist of the Zone, known only as the Millennium Earl, retains its appearance and name in D.Gray-man while the female protagonist features are altered to create a more masculine appearance of the male protagonist D. Gray-man ' Allen Walker. The characters Lavi and Yu Kanda carried from two unpublished titles. In making a demon known as "Akuma" from D.Gray-man , Hoshino was inspired by the 1973 film, The Exorcist , even though he was frightened of the movie. With the release of the 13th series collected, Hoshino revealed the material he used while working: the PlayStation Portable, the iPod and the gloves his mother made on him.

He uses an unnamed famous scientist, Aleister Crowley and Y? Suke Santamaria as a model for some of his characters. The character is also based on its editor and Silver Campi Design team accessory. Hoshino collaborated with Kata Kizaki, the author of the novel adaptation, to create the character of Bak Chan. Miranda Lotto's role changed, and eventually extended, after Hoshino realized the similarities that they both share. Hoshino commented that Allen's hair has become very similar to the Super Saiyan, a transformation of the Dragon Ball , in which the character's hair becomes sharp. Towards the beginning of the publication of D.Gray-man ', Hoshino stated that Allen, Kanda, and Cross Marian are the most difficult characters to draw while the Millennium Earl and Hevlaska are the easiest.

Hoshino commented that most of his ideas for the series came after falling asleep in the bathtub for six hours. Exceptions occur in the plot for the second volume of the series, which is based on a Noh game called Koi no Omoni . While he works, he likes listening to Final Fantasy soundtracks, Dragon Ball, Porno Graffitti bands, L'Arc-en-Ciel, and jazz music.

Hoshino feels grateful to the editors who helped him, as he Grey-man ' succeeded them. He also thanked his mother in several series volumes. Arc story involving Alma Karma proves Hoshino is difficult because of the fact it features several characters. Consequently, this arc governs Allen's departure from the Black Order to display fewer characters per chapter. He also commented that the main theme of the series is "tragedy" but still aims to make it fun. Also, once he finished D.Gray-man , Hoshino wanted to make the series lighter.

In order to gather research for this series, Hoshino had visited New York because he was convinced the city was leaving a deep influence in his works. He also visited the cemetery because he never had the resources for this series. Ground zero World Trade Center after the September 11 attacks also left a big impression on him based on guide comments. Hoshino commented he would rather go again because he did not have much time to live in New York.
