The men's basketball team of 2013-14 Louisville Cardinals represents the University of Louisville during the 2013-14 NCAA Division I basketball season, the 100th inter-season competition season in Louisville. The Cardinals competed at the American Athletic Conference and were trained by Rick Pitino in the 13th season. Tim played his home game at Denny Crum Court at KFC Yum! Center.
They finished 31-6, 15-3 at AAC playing to win the regular season conference championship, sharing the title with Cincinnati. They are also champions of the AAC Tournament to get an automatic bid conference to the NCAA Tournament. In their 40th NCAA Tournament performance, defending national champions beat Manhattan and Saint Louis to advance to Sweet Sixteen where they lost to Kentucky rivals.
This is their only season at the American Athletic Conference when they move to the Atlantic Coast Conference on July 1, 2014.

The Cardinals are the # 3 team in the USA Today Coaches pre-season poll and were chosen to win an American conference by the media and coaches. The Cardinals return 7 of the 9 players from the team that won the NCAA Championship in 2013 and both the regular season of Big East and the tournament championships. On January 10, 2014, Rick Pitino and Kevin Ware jointly announced that Ware would sit outside the rest of the season and take a medical redshirt. In Louisville's December 17 victory over the State of Missouri, Ware was kicked in the same right foot with a severe fracture during the NCAA Tournament Cardinals' 2013 victory over Duke. Under the NCAA rules, a player qualifies for a medical redshirt if he appears in less than 30 percent of his team's game, without an appearance in the second half of the season. Ware played in nine of a total of 31 matches scheduled; The Missouri State match is the 11th game of the season. Shortly after the Cardinals' departure from the NCAA tournament, Ware announced that he would move from Louisville. On April 12, Ware confirmed to ESPN.com that the destination was the State of Georgia, near his family's home in Atlanta.

Louisville opened with two exhibition wins and 2 wins at home. They played in the Classic Hall of Fame, progressing to the final where they fell to # 24 North Carolina 93-84. They completed their non-conference slate with 5 wins, including a 79-63 win over Western Kentucky at the Billy Minardi Classic, and a defeat at Rupp Arena to archrival # 18 Kentucky. They entered the American Athletic Conference playing with a 11-2 record.

The Cardinals opened American Athletic play with a win on the way over UCF and Rutgers before returning home and losing # 24 to Memphis. They then went 11-1 in the next 12 games, dividing home and home with Cincinnati. They lost their second game with Memphis before closing the season with a back-to-back win over # 18 High School and # 19 UConn on the senior day. They finished the regular season with a 26-5 (15-3) record and finished in the match with Cincinnati as the American Athletic Summer Champion.

Based on Cardinals' flip-flop loss is the # 2 seed in the tournament and faces Rutgers in the quarter-finals. They set an AAC record for a margin of victory with a whopping 61 points from Scarlet Knights, 92-31. They beat Houston in the semi-finals 94-65. Russ Smith set AAC's scoring record and record of the Louisville tournament with 42 points against Cougars. The Cardinals won the AAC Tournament Championship match against # 21 Connecticut with a score of 71-61. This is the first AAC Tournament Cardinals Championship, in their year at the conference. Russ Smith won the AAC Tournament Most Outstanding award. Smith, Montrezl Harrell and Luke Hancock were named for First Team All-AAC tournaments.

The Cardinals grabbed the # 4 seed in the Midwest area and beat Manhattan in the second half with a score of 71-64. They defeated the # 5 seed. Louis in the third round; their reign as defending champion ended when the Cardinals were overthrown by # 8 Kentucky, 74-69, in Sweet 16, ended 31-6.
