Sports Children Illustrations ( SI Kids , trademarked Sports Illustrated KIDS , sometimes Sports Illustrated for Kids ) is the monthly spin-off of the US Sports Weekly magazine Sports Illustrated . SI Kids was launched in January 1989 and included sports coverage with little vocabulary and more emphasis on humor. The second goal of the magazine is to market sports to children.
The first edition featured members of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and former Chicago Bulls guard Michael Jordan on the cover.

Sports Illustrated Teen SI Teen , trademarks Sports Illustrated TEEN , sometimes Sports Illustrated TEEN Edition ) is the insertion of multiple pages tied to regular monthly issues of SI Kids , written for older readers of children's magazines. It featured more statistics, predictions, and deep observations on team-based sports and extreme sports. Sports Illustrated Teen first appeared in the January 2004 issue, was published until it was canceled in the March 2010 edition and replaced with selected articles from Sports Illustrated .

Partnership with Topps
In March 2006, the company Topps and Sports Illustrated Kids announced a marketing alliance to raise the overall awareness of collecting trade cards among children. This magazine advertises the inclusion of a sports card in every issue.
Magazine content
Monthly features include comics, athletic photo funny pictures, child reporters, and player interviews.
The recurrent mascot of this magazine is Buzz Beamer , a long-haired, blond Caucasian boy always in sunglasses. She starred in most of the comics where she played various sports and also appeared in some flash cartoons on the official website. Buzz is created and drawn by Bill Hinds winning cartoonist.
Other works have been published under magazine titles including video games, television shows, and books (such as sports pop-up books).
The December issue magazine featured the SportsKid of the Year.
Each issue presents a poster that can be removed from the problem.
