Game summary
Oregon
Nebraska reserves were on the field in the 4th quarter, working under a comfortable 34-0 advantage, when a missed kick allowed Oregon to enter a final score to avoid a shutout with 3 minutes to play.
Minnesota ââh>
Minnesota managed a 2-quarter touchdown, but the game was never really in doubt as Nebraska extended their unbeaten streak to 21 matches.
Texas A & amp; M
Two great dramas left Nebraska signatures in Texas A & amp; M wins, when Johnny Rodgers tears up a 98-yard kickoff result for a touchdown, and Bill Kosch returns a 95-yard interception for his own score. Aggies also scored big points for their only one, a 94-yard back-hit that was equally impressive.
Utah State
Utah State was behind 0-35 when they managed to avoid shutout with a 3rd quarter touchdown, but PAT was blocked. The Cornhuskers ran a margin of victory back again with a fourth-quarter final touchdown.
Missouri
Nebraska held goalless for more than 20 minutes, but Missouri finally succumbed to pressure as Nebraska then ran 36 points and closed the Tigers in Columbia.
Kansas
Nebraska destroyed Kansas in Homecoming for another shutout, holding the Jayhawks to a total 56-meter offense, barely more than a tenth of the Cornhuskers' 538 yards.
Oklahoma State
All ratings throughout the State of Oklahoma are picked up in the last 2 minutes against Nebraska reserves, making the game appear closer than that, if 41-13 can be called close.
Colorado
Nebraska rolled straight to a 24-0 lead at half time and drove it against # 9 Colorado without much effort. Buffalo did a 3rd quarter touchdown on a broken game, but Nebraska matched it and easily survived to win.
Iowa State
Cornhuskers held Iowa State just 105 meters offense and had no trouble holding Cyclones from the scoreboard for another shutout this season.
Kansas State
Nebraska QB Jerry Tagge became the first Cornhusker to surpass the 5,000-yard career at Kansas State as Nebraska scored on each of its first four holdings. Johnny Rodgers also entered the notebook with 10-season reception receptions, 45 receptions in the season, and 84 receptions for his career. No other team managed to score as many points on Nebraska this season as the Wildcats did, but another convincing victory was behind them as Nebraska prepared for a confrontation with Oklahoma # 2 to decide the title of Big 8 and potentially a national champion.
Oklahoma
Oklahoma and Nebraska battled back and forth in Game of the Century in front of a sold-out crowd at Norman and over 55 million viewers on ABC-TV on Thanksgiving Day. Nebraska hit first with a 72-yard Johnny Rodgers back kick, but Oklahoma pulled forward with 3 by halftime. The Cornhuskers came back strong in the third quarter with two more goals, but Sooners hit back with two of them to take back the lead with only 7:10 left. Down by 3 points, Huskers went on the final drive and with only 1:38 left, Jeff Kinney scored his fourth goal of the day to lead and win.
Hawaii
Nearly 1/3 of the fans in the relatively sparse crowds dressed in red and rooting for the Cornhuskers as Nebraska easily won this match almost as an afterthought for a holiday in Honolulu. It was 24-3 on the half, and Hawaii never saw the scoreboard again.
Alabama
In 1972 the Orange Bowl, Huskers battled team # 2 for the second time this season, but Alabama barely posed a challenge that the Oklahoma Sooners had, as Nebraska sent Crimson Tide into the locker room in half behind by a disgraceful 28-0. Alabama managed a weak third-quarter touchdown but failed to convert the following 2 points and never scored again, while Nebraska replied with 10 more points than their own to close the game and end the season as national champion for the second year in a row.
