America's Test Kitchen

America's Test Kitchen is a half-hour cooking show distributed to public and Create television stations in the United States, which is also available in most Canadian markets. Christopher Kimball hosted the first 16 seasons, as he became editor-in-chief of Cook's Illustrated. The program is now jointly organized by Julia Collin Davison and Bridget Lancaster, both previously among the rotations of chefs featured at America's Test Kitchen.

Format episode

The typical episode of the event consists mainly of two or three recipes that are consistent with the episode theme. Each recipe is served by Julia Collin-Davison or Bridget Lancaster, which explains the common problems that can occur when cooking a recipe or ordering it at a restaurant. Periodically throughout the episode, other segments are included, usually consisting of two or more of the following:

• Corner Equipment Segment, reviewing and ranking a kitchen gadget
• The Tailor Lab Segment, where prepared ingredients or food products are run through tasting panels and tested by one host
• The Science Desk segment, discussing the science behind related techniques used in recipes
• Quick Tips Segment, show tips and tricks from Cook's Illustrated magazine and audience mail

Through season 6 performances recorded in standard definition, video 4: 3; Season 7 saw the event switch to the 16: 9 widescreen video. High-definition versions of the show are broadcast as part of PBS HD digital master's schedule, and by some PBS affiliates as part of their normal schedule.

During the recording, 26 recipes were recorded within three weeks. Six recipes are recorded per day, and there are two recipes shown per episode.
