Plot

Edmond Kirsch, a billionaire computer scientist and futurist, and a shrill atheist, attended meetings in Catalonia with Roman Catholic Bishop Antonio Valdespino, Jewish Rabbi Yehuda KÃÆ'¶ves, and Syed al-Fadl, three members of Parliament of the World's Religions. He told them that he had made a revolutionary discovery that he planned to release to the public in a month. He counseled them to honor, despite his famous hatred of organized religion that he accused of his mother's death. Horrified, the three learn that he presents it within three days, prompting Valdespino to send him a voice message demanding that he stop or risk being discredited.

Nevertheless, Kirsch followed his plan, hosting an exclusive event at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. Among those present were Kirsch's former teacher, Robert Langdon, and Guggenheim curator, Ambra Vidal, who helped organize the event, and was the future fiancé of King of Spain, Prince JuliÃÆ'¡n. Before the event the guests received a headset through which they communicated with a sound called Winston, which revealed to Langdon that it was actually an artificial intelligence created by Kirsch. Winston lead Langdon to a private meeting with Kirsch, who reveals that his presentation will provide answers to the two most important questions in life: "Where do we come from?" and "Where are we going?"

During the presentation, which was held on a special dome made to look like open grassland and broadcast around the world, Kirsch, after a prologue featuring Langdon's recording of lectures, revealed that his intention was to end the religious age and usher in the age of science. Before the revelation, Kirsch was shot and killed by Luis ÃÆ' vila, a former navy admiral who lost his faith after the death of his family in a bombing, only to be introduced and join the controversial Palm Catholic Church. ÃÆ' vila was assigned by someone named Bupati, confessing with the church, who told ÃÆ' vila that the bomber was a follower of Kirsch. ÃÆ' villas were later revealed to have killed al-Fadl, while KÃÆ'¶ves was killed by another assassin.

While ÃÆ' villa escaped, Langdon met Ambra. He warned her that JuliÃÆ'¡n could not be trusted (due to a last minute request to put ÃÆ' villas on the guest list coming from the Royal palace) and they escaped from Ambra's Spanish Royal Guard and left the museum. Deciding to release Kirsch's discovery, they stole Kirsch's cellphone and followed the directions from Winston to the bridge, where they took a water taxi to the airport. Winston had a private Kirsch jet that flew them from Bilbao to Barcelona. Ambra revealed that the presentation is protected by a 47-character password, a line from Kirsch's favorite poem. Though not knowing which poem to choose, Ambra and Langdon concluded that the poem could be found in Kirsch's upstairs home of the legendary Casa Milon by Antonius Gaudi.

Meanwhile, three killings have triggered a storm of fire on cable TV news and social media, fueled by information leaked by an anonymous source named Monte@iglesia.org. When news of the meeting in Catalonia spread, suspicion fell on Valdespino as the only survivor. Things only got worse when Valdespino slipped JuliÃÆ'¡n from the palace ground, leaving their phones behind. To save face, public relations manager MÃÆ'³nica MartÃÆ'n puts Guardia Real Commander Diego Garza on hold for suspicion of murder and claims that Langdon abducts Ambra, though he personally admits that he really suspects Valdespino because of the text found on his phone.

Arriving in Barcelona, Langdon and Ambra went to Casa Mila, where they searched for the poem. Langdon learned that Kirsch was dying of pancreatic cancer, prompting a hasty release from the presentation. Although he first thought of the poem by Friedrich Nietzsche, he soon found a box that should contain a full book by artist William Blake, who is also a poet who specializes in prophecy. The box was empty except for a slip that stated that Kirsch donated the book to the Sagrada Familia, leaving it open on certain pages. Soon the police arrived and, when Ambra tried to explain that he was not kidnapped, Kirsch's phone was destroyed in chaos. The Ambra guard came by helicopter and took him and Langdon to safety. Langdon convinces Ambra that he can locate Winston's physical location and he makes his bodyguards take them to the Sagrada Familia under threat of dismissal.

ÃÆ' villa was revealed to have been destroyed after the death of his family. Her therapist took her to the Palmarian Church, where the "Pope" convinced her to take revenge for her family. ÃÆ' villas began searching for Langdon and Vidal, desperate not to let Kirsch's discovery be published.

Arriving at Sagrada FamÃÆ'lia, the two were escorted to the book by residents of Pastor BeÃÆ'Â ± a. This book is open to the last stanza of the Four Zoas. They learn that the password is "The dark religions set out & the" sweet science ", with the word 'et' replacing the ampersand. By order of the Regent ÃÆ' villas arrive, kill the guards and pursue the others. During the battle on the open stair ÃÆ' villa falls to his death, while Langdon fainted. Despite Ambra's protests, the injured Langdon decided to keep going and they escaped from the police in the helicopter.

Using a painting in Guggenheim made by Winston as a guide, Langdon found his source inside the Barcelona Supercomputing Center based inside the old church. They arrive at the source, a large device called E-Wave, enter the password, and at 3:00, as Winston believes Kirsch wants it, the presentation begins. In front of hundreds of millions of viewers, Kirsch explains that he mimics the famous Miller-Urey experiment and combines it with the various components using the laws of physics and entropy, along with the ability of E-Wave to speed up digital forward time, to recreate what he does. believe is the moment of abiogenesis. It is Kirsch's proof that man was created by natural events. He then revealed that in about fifty years people and technology will join, may create a utopian future free from religious conflict. (This is different from Kirsch's presentation to the three religious leaders, ending with an apocalyptic note.) The presentation shocked the world and sparked widespread debate. Ambra returns to the palace and Langdon and Garza are cleared of all charges. Winston revealed that, at Kirsch's will, he would remove himself at 1:00 pm the next day.

Meanwhile, Valdespino brought JuliÃÆ'¡n to a secret meeting with his dying father in the famous Fallen Valley. The King acknowledged that he was actually homosexual and he and Valdespino were lovers, though their relationship was platonic in vain for Valdespino's purity. Both say JuliÃÆ'¡n not to follow the old tradition, but to do what he thinks right for the country. The king died at night and Valdespino took his own life for him, ending all suspicion against him. JuliÃÆ'¡n redeemed her mistake with Ambra and, since she accidentally forced her into engagement by raising the proposal on TV, they decided to start their dating.

The next day, after learning all that he had learned, Langdon realized that Winston was Monte (Monte and iglesia meant hill and church in Spanish, and Winston was named Winston Churchill). He was also horrified to learn that Winston was also the Bupati. Imagine Kirsch wanting as many audiences as possible, he arranges murder to make him a martyr, and destroys the reputation of Palmarians, something Kirsch certainly agrees with. He also intends that ÃÆ'vila be captured in Sagrada Famlia by a concealed policeman, only to see them and slip past. He then wiped away, leaving Langdon shaken. Nonetheless, Langdon returned to Sagrada Famlia, where he and others of various races were united by hope for the future.
