Usama Publishing , often called Usborne Books, is a children's literature publisher based in the UK.

Founded by Peter Usborne in 1973, Usborne Publishing uses a team of writers, editors and designers inside the company and translates into over 100 languages. His sister company Usborne Books at Home, a direct selling association selling to families, schools and communities, was established in 1981 and won the Direct Sales Association for Innovation Award in 2004.

Coinciding with the Year of National Reading in 2008, Usborne created the Usborne Reading Program with a marketing campaign to encourage novice readers. This program is a collection of over 150 titles that are assessed in seven levels covering a wide range of subjects, both fiction and non-fiction.

Quicklinks

Quicklink was first introduced in 2000 as a way to incorporate the Internet into modern reading habits. Peter Usborne was quoted in The Bookseller trade magazine as saying: "At first I thought the internet would kill non-fiction, because the teacher would tell the kids to use the internet to help with homework, but if you put 'palace' [on the machine search], you get 900,000 possible websites, the Internet is an inadequate resource for children. "

In every book connected to the internet there is a small entry informing the reader that more information about a particular topic can be found using the Usborne Quicklinks website. By selecting the title and page number of books on the site, a list of suggested websites is provided with additional material on the subject such as video clips, activities, and games.
